Mac vs. Roy

Who would you rather have? Personally I would rather have Roy. I think he plays beyond his years like Wade and with poise and control. I think he brings a winning personality with him. I was impressed by the Blazers' early run and Roy was heavily influential in it. Roy and Oden will take this team back into the playoffs every year. Book it.

Tmac in Orlando was better than Roy will ever be. Roy will probably have more career success than T-Mac.

T-Mac better body, Roy more skill imo.

I can't decide honestly

Healthy McGrady is a superstar and a tier 1 player. Roy will never be a tier 1 player. He'll be a good tier 2 player like Pierce, Carter, Ray Allen, etc.

But as of right now, I'd rather have Roy on my team.

Tmac>Roy now, and forever. The OP, think about it like this, switch both players on each others teams. Roy is on the Rockets that is injury prone and without Yao. Tmac is with the Blazers. So which team makes it to the playoffs and wins 50+ games? The Rockets who have Roy minus Yao, or the Blazers who have Tmac?

Neither.

And T-Mac at his best right now is better than Roy at his best right now. However, in 2-3 years, that won't be the case. However, T-mac's prime > Roy's prime.

Also, Roy will never put up stats similar to those of T-Mac's. Roy is more a team first guy, and is playing on a more balanced roster

Agreed. I see Roy as a smaller in size and quicker version of Grant Hill. Note I saw smaller in size because I don't think the guy can rebound like Hill, but he has the capability of putting up 22pts, 7 ast, and 5reb.

You realize McGrady is 28 and will only be 30-31 in 2-3 years? The back problems are behind him.... the chances of Roy being better than him any time soon are slim to none.

He's gotten worse over the past few years, and while still one of the best, he's a shadow of him former self. That's largely due to injuries, and he may well never have those problems again, but how can you say the chances of him having another flare up are slim to none when the past says differently?

Right now? Roy, without a doubt. I know he's not going to quit on us.

What a joke of a comparison. Is there anything Roy does better than Tmac? Maybe in 3-4 years when Tmac slows down, but seriously, this is ridiculous.

roy may be a better pure shooter than t-mac but yeah this comparison is bad.

T-Mac should be compared to Wade, Carmelo, and when he is at his best(like game 6), Kobe.

The Tmac hate is getting out of control if people don't think he's better than Roy.

man im getting sick of seeing all of these polls with Roy facing off vs established guards. I guy is progressing nicely but its in his 2nd season for god sake. How bout we let him play acouple more before you try to take on a guy like Mac who has been putting up big time numbers for quite awhile. Honestly the only way you can take Roy is if you are making an argument for starting a new team. Mac a more gifted athlete and is wired to be a much more gifted scorer at this point.

The thing that really gets me ticked off is people are tossing out young blazer players vs vets and the posters are not people ive ever seen on the portland board in my time. Then pretty much everyone jumps in and goes " jeeze portland fans are crazy, they overrate all there players.. blah blah blah". You know what im sure we do to some degree but Im also pretty damn sure people make these threads to enable pot shots at a team and to bait some of the more foolish fans.

T-Mac isn't a top tier player anymore unfortunately. I don't put Melo there either, but Wade and Bryant are both better as of now

Mac without a doubt
especially if he's healthy. Roy is good and all but T-Mac is T-Mac
