I used to think it was Pierce but that's because the Hawks are never on tv.

I wouldn't say easily but I think Pierce is the more versatile scorer, better rebounder and only slightly below Johnson in terms of play making.

How is Pierce a more versatile scorer?
JJ can post up, make baseline step back jumper, midrange shot off the dribble, and sink the 3 ball.

He can do all that and draw fouls better

maybe versatile wasn't the best choice of words. How about more effective, again they are fairly even in there #'s but PP has higher point averages. But again they are so close so I'd say it comes down to personal inkling.

Johnson. From a chemistry standpoint he's just easier to work with...
Pierce is the better player though, not by a whole lot but he's still better... To Johnson's credit he plays more under control though.

Paul Pierce is better but it's very close. I would rather have Joe Johnson as a second option though.

Johnson took Pierce to 7 despite having an inferior supporting cast.. By FAR inferior supporting cast actually. Replace Johnson and Pierce with each other and this series doesn't go 6.

Of course - they play different positions, and Johnson is the far better ball handler, which the Hawks need, when Bibby is not on the floor.

I'd take Pierce for now. JJ is a rising star in this league. Won't be long before he gets another all-star appearance.

I don't know how you could say "Pierce easily" in all the games at Phillips, he was the invisible man even though the Atl defense wasn't throwing aggressive doubles at him whenever he got the ball outside the 3 pt. line like the Celt's D was doing to Johnson.

Paul is better, but I would prefer Joe Johnson on my team...a bit of a biased opinion though

If you replace Joe Johnson with Paul Pierce' clone, the Hawks lose in 4 or 5 to the Celtics.

I'm a Hawks fan and I'd go with Pierce as the better player. However, JJ is much younger so in the right situation I would prefer him.
