What Will a Prime Durant Look like?

There were a couple 40 point games near the end of the year where Durant looked pretty promising. Despite his assist numbers, he seems like he has potential as a 5 apg type guard. I am curious if he puts on 15 pounds and gets to 240 or so at 6'10 if he will be a matchup nightmare for SF's.. post little guards and blow by PF's they put on him.. I think the nose he showed for the ball in College will eventually show itself once he gets bigger...

The thing that maybe most important is he wants the ball at the end of the game and has the will to make game winners, he did it at Texas several times, and did it several times (ok not several they were indeed the sonics) this year..

What do you think his prime Stats will look like?

more like 30 lbs to get up to 240.....lol

he'll be a superstar no doubt

His goal is to be like Tracy McGrady. Mcgrady is Durant's favorite player. As you can see from his style play already, he will be a scoring threat in the future. If he can add some play making skills to that he is going to be ONE dangerous player. But lets hope he doesn't fully turn into McGrady, and not get out of the first round

he was listed at 225 on most sites i had thought, but it looked more like 215 to me..

I think Durant's prime could look similar to Bird's statistically. thoughts?

I just looked at statistics and Jordan's worst year as a pro with washington looks eerily similar to Durant's year this year haha

23-25ppg, 6-7 rebounds, 3-4 assists, 1-2 steals, 1-2 blocks.

It matters how good his supporting cast will be. He definitely will be good enough to put up 30/7/4/1.5/1.5 if he needed to, IMO. But if his team is any good he will settle for around 26/7/3.

High school Kobe Bryant

Basically Durant will be one of those NBA Stars that the NBA puts up on its mantle, not only is he on his way to being a great player, The guy knows the right things to say, and how to connect with his fans. You won't have to worry about him getting in trouble.

I think about 26, 8, and maybe 3 dimes, 1.5 steals, and about a block a game.

My guess is he'll look something like this...

I think he could conceivably go 30, 8, 3,1.5,1.5

He shoots 87% from the line.. he will average 28-30 with ease in his prime..the amount he gets to the line, he is the best free throw shooting scorer since Bird/Nowitzki

i dont know stat wise, i can only guess maybe 32/8/4/1/2 but it's going to be flat out scary

He started to really understand the game in the last 2 months of the season. He is going to be a superstar and will be one of those guys that will be ALL-NBA/all-star every season. He just needs to get a little stronger.

A less physical Carmelo Anthony.

Their rookie stats are nearly identical.

I don't think he'll win anything unless he has a good big men and a good supporting cast

He will be an elite scorer on a bad team. An Orlando's Tmac but without the playmaking skills.

Sounds about right. I think in a few years he might even average 33ppg if he has a weak supporting cast- he will always be able to get up plenty of shots with his length.

As a Sixers homer, Also, watch out for the 2nd youngest player in the league- the other skinny, 19 year old rookie- Thad Young. These guys were on about the same level coming out of HS, and Young has shown the potential to be a 20+/8/3/50+% guy in a few years. He entered the league with a much less polished handle than his bud Durant, but he has the jumper, athletasism and touch around the basket- and the ballhandling will come- he has a great first step and body control, but a loose handle.

They let Young match up against Durant and in 27 min he went for 7 of 8 18/9/3. Otherwise, Young never gets touches in the set offense- but wait a couple of years.

Both players show a great touch both outside and around the basket. Both are long and great athletes. In 5 years those two could be the Jordan and Drexler of their era at the SF position (by their numbers, not their level of play, since neither will approach MJ status.)
