I say Paul. Even if both healthy I still take Paul because he just makes so players so much better. If he didn't score as well as he did he would be known up there with Nash and Kidd as passers and playmakers but his scoring almost overshawodes his passing ability.
It's really close but Paul just makes a team go. Even with a team like the Heat I don't think he would have let them lose like that. I am not talking the games he missed either.
I think the whole can't win without expierence in the playoffs will be shattered to vs the Spurs when the Hornets win.

These two guys are my two second favorite players behind Chris Bosh.

I take a healthy Dwyane Wade.

The problem I have with Paul is that he needs talented teammates to look good. The Hornets from 2007 are close to the same team as 2008. The biggest difference is health.

Wade (and Kobe, Lebron etc) can carry a team of less than talented players better than Paul can imo.....

This thread can only come out one way, and that's with Paul as the winner. I'm not saying it's accurate, because I take a healthy Wade over Paul any day, but this board is all about "what have you done for me lately". When Wade won the championship, he was drawing comparisons to Kobe and LeBron and usually holding his own or winning. Now, these days, I think Larry Hughes could beat him on a RealGM poll...

I would take D-Wade.

I would take Paul now..though a healthy Wade next season would make a good argument.

Paul can play D...i would even say hes an elite defender at his position..not many PG play hard on D.

Where was Tyson Chandler before NO? Who was David West before Chris Paul? I'd argue that Paul makes his teammates look more talented. For me they are both great players but I would go with Paul.

Right now Paul. But a healthy Wade is always a top 6 player in this league(kobe, lebron, kg, duncan, paul). So it's a tough call. And about the guy who said Paul can't play D, Chris Paul is a better defender than Wade for his position.

Wade has had more good seasons so his level is better established but his health recently makes whether he can return to his elite level an even bigger question than whether Paul can maintain the one he established this year.

Looking at whether Wade's best year was better than Paul's best year is a fairer question. Wade's peak is around 6/7/27 with excellent efficiency TS%=.583 and excellent defense. Paul's peak this year was 12/3/21 with a similar efficiency TS%=.576 and good, but not great, defense. The question is how much you value Wade's extra scoring and defense over Paul's playmaking. I'd say their regular season peaks are pretty comparable.

However, Wade has shown something that Paul hasn't really had the chance to show yet. Wade showed that he can elevate his game in the playoffs and carry his team to a title. IF Paul does that this year, you can make a good argument that Paul is the better player; until then, you have to lean to a healthy Dwayne Wade.

so Paul didn't elevate his game in the playoffs? i disagree.

oh and Wade's defense is so overrated its not even funny. His help defense is good, but his man to man defense is pretty average.

Well said, but I don't quite agree on the defense part. I think both Paul and Wade are solid defenders, but neither is elite. I'd rank them as relatively equal on defense.

So now we arguing whether or not to have Wade's extra scoring or Paul's playmaking. Over the long haul, I'd rather have Paul. He's going to make his teammates better and make them play harder.

If you put Paul on that 2005 Miami team, I think they still win the title. If you put 2005 Wade on the current New Orleans team, I don't think they'd be 6-1 in the playoffs with two blowout wins over the defending champs.

Too me, a healthy D-Wade is the best player in the league.
