He has to much Sheed/Odom in him. Tay is not naturally aggressive at the offensive end and while he may be able to put up 20-22 ppg for a while as soon as teams start keying on him with doubles and shading their defense you'll see his numbers come back down.

I think he'd put up almost identical numbers as the #2 option along side a legit #1 option, and that is clearly the best fit for him.

For as much as people talk about his numbers being deflated playing as the 4th option on such a balanced team you also have to remember that prevents defenses from keying on him. He's able to have big games and big series when he has an advantage because teams can't sell out out to stop him. Are you going to leave Rip open? Or Chauncey? Or Sheed? It's a two way street.

Tay is a GREAT #2 or #3 option, but not a franchise player. He's certainly more valuable to a contending team at the moment, but Durant more valuable to a building franchise, and no doubt he has star potential as he continues to develop. Apples and oranges.

is Prince a guy who can create his own shot... or does he just feed off of Billups and Sheed?

He's very capable of creating his own offense, and in games where he scores more than 15 points it's usually because he's aggressive and looking to do so.

Prince has the ability to face up, put the ball on the floor or post you up. He's also a great finisher in transition and a serviceable spot up shooter. And he can play point in a pinch. He actually shares pg duties with Stuckey when they are on the floor together, and even when Chauncey is in the game it's not all that unusual to see Tay bring the ball up the court, particularly if the other team is trapping/pressing. He's got a very well rounded game. Jack of all trades, master of none sorta guy. But again, he lacks that mentality necessary to really dominate. He's far more comfortable in a complimentary role.

Both guys are better off where they are. Prince is a very good player, but he is no first option offensively. He would find it much tougher to score points without Billups, Sheed, and Hamilton around. His all around game is huge for Detroit, but Durant is needed in Seattle where they have zero scoring.

You're right. He's not as good as Durant. He's better. Durants value is in his upside, not his immediate on the court impact.

Agreed. Durant is the more cold blooded scorer though, which is what the Sonics need.

You wouldn't be saying that if Prince was your number 1 option. Put Durant on the Pistons and you'll see a much more efficient player.

The difference is, Durant wouldn't be the 1st option on the Pistons. Durant would have to EARN his playing time. And even after he earned that time, he would have to share the ball with All-Star players that would be looked to before him.

I don't think that would make him a more effecient player though. He seems to play better after playing for awhile, getting thrown in and not contributing for a stretch of game, the other Pistons would look somewhere else for help than to keep pounding it to Durant the way Seattle does.

Seattle was really demolished for Durants sake... no other team would do that imo. He could get a fresh start in Oklahoma City though.

Please don't compare Durant to Tayshaun. :nonono:
