He's about to pass the legendary kareem abdul jabbar in terms of amount of playoff games played and will be the player with most playoff games ever. And Kareem played for 20 years so that makes it even more amazing.

Now we can't say that it's because of him the Rockets/Lakers/Spurs won championships, although he contributed.

But what does it say about this guy where 3 championship teams, comprising of straight LEGENDS, Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe, Duncan picked him and played him with decently significant wins and won titles with him in the squad.

How much credit does Rob Horry get and do you rank him above someone like Rasheed Wallace/Jermaine O'Neal when it's all said and done because of his caerer accomplishments.

It's one thing to ride the coattails of one team to the title, but to win titles with 3 different teams, and he contributed significantly with starter minutes during the Houston era so...

He's always asked how does he come through in the clutch, and he says "I just love playing basketball, it's just a game"

he's a great role player who really steps it up in big games and comes up huge when the game is on the line.

Currently he's a scrub, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Historically he was a good player on Houston, and his contribution is probably underrated by people who only remember him with the spurs and his later years with the lakers.

With the lakers he was a good player who devolved into a role player. With the spurs he's been nothing but a role player, save for his game 5 performance with Detroit.

The legend of Big Shot Bob ignores the fact he's stunk it up in the playoffs to. Look at his last year with the lakers.

You can't give him any significant credit for his championships in comparison to a guy like Rasheed, because Rasheed contributed to his team's success at a level Horry could only dream of.

Championships and team success matter when your comparing players of similar talent.

He's Lucky, He's lucky he got to play on great teams. Sure he clutch but thats it. This is the perfect example of being somewhere at the right time.

lol i honestly don't think he gives 2 **** about the regular season.

And this is where I think you guys are wrong about being lucky. The guy is Andrew DeClerq in the reg season or has been for most of this decade, yet 3 champoinship teams picked him up despite being a scrub. He has career averages of 7 ppg and 5 rpg and he's no bruce bowen level defender either...

There is obviously something about him that attracts teams to him.

Spurs were picking up any old guy Barry, Finley, Horry, Glenn Robinson.

People think that Robert is just about the clutch 3's, but he does so many little things that go unnoticed by most. Even though his minutes are way down, if you put him in the game he will have an impact in one way or another. Setting a great screen. Snagging a big rebound. Hustling for loose balls. Drawing charges. All the intangibles. So for those who criticize him for just "being in the right place at the right time", don't you think he had something to do with making that "the right place"?

Robinson, Finley, Barry are/were al b etter players than Horry ever was if your talking about in conventional terms...

The Lakers he just happened to fall into the situation he was traded to the lakers in kobes rookie year, no one had any idea how the lakers would do. Like I said he just got very lucky to be on great teams. IMO

Jim Loscutoff won 6 titles with the celtics averaging 5.5 PPG 5.2 RPG .6 APG in his playoff career. Now was he a key piece to those championship teams or was he lucky that he was on such great teams?

If anyone here knows the NHL, Horry is the basketball version of Claude Lemieux.

All kinds of talent, but pretty much puts it in cruise control until the playoffs.

Had he had a constant engine...honestly...he could have been a GREAT player. Exceptional defense, top athleticism/body combination, and could shoot, pass, and drive.

He could have been something like a Pippen that trended to the bigger positions, ie 3-4 as opposed to 2-3. Not the playmaker, but better rebounder.

But he was always a guy who was fine with coasting until he felt it really mattered.

Lucky .......... WOW thats an understatement .
Horry was traded for Ceballos which Ceballos happened to turn into a scrub.
So lucky for the Lakers they dumped Ceballos for Horry , since Horry had his issues with the Suns.
Now as far as every other fan from other teams like the Suns , Kings , Utah etc .
They hate Horry , cause Horry is Clutch and his shots have put away more teams in the playoffs and finals year after year.
I mean even though he plays for the SPurs , there were a lot of fans that hated Horry for his clutchness , and now they embrase him with love
But you have to give the guy credit , he has won 7 titles .
Three with the Lakers and he was a huge contributor to those titles as well as the Rockets and the SPurs ...
So lucky ......... I doubt it .
More like Clutch , more like 6th man of the century .
By far he has made a huge impact for everyteam he has played for , and off the court he is one of the most humble guys with class you'll ever have chance to meet .

like I siadi t's one thing to ride the coattails of one team, Horry won rings with 3 different teams in a span of 14 years...

horry is not just a player that is at the right place at the right time. this just proves youve only seen his highlights. horry does all the little things, rebounding, taking charges, whatever it takes. he just cant do it for the entire game so the coach picks his poison.
