Philly vs. Orlando

Post#1 » by sixer4ever » Fri May 16, 2008 12:03 am

I was shocked at how well the sixers played against the pistons in the playoffs this year. Detroit was by far the better team but somehow Philly managed to make it a series. With that said, I was shocked at how poorly Orlando played. I was on the Magic bandwagon and thought that the series would go to 7 games but i was wrong. Not only did orlando get beat in 5 but lost 2 games with no billups.

My question is this. Had Philly played orlando, who would have won?
I know that i am bias but i really believe that Philly could have taken Orlando based on what I saw out of the Magic against Detroit. Am I out of my mind?

Philly would of won.

They're quicker, more athletic and just seemed to play with alot more heart during the playoffs.

Dwight Howard would of probably went off, but if they could contain Hedo and Lewis, I think they would of taken the series. I think Hedo and Lewis would have trouble against the length and athleticism of Young and Iggy.

The Sixers matched up terribly against the Magic this year. Orlando would have won.

Well your right Sixers aren't as bad as people say. They are a young up and coming team. I still think the Sixers would win this series, but Orlando does have more veteran players on their team though.

basically.

why do some crazy indirect comparison involving a third team when you can simply look at the head-to-head matchups?

Philly is a good team, but Orlando would have won. The Pistons that played Orlando in the 2nd round were a lot better than the team that played Philly early in the 1st round series.

Also, Philly does not defend the three point line well. That is a death sentence against Orlando.

As a Philly fan... Orlando in 7.

Iguodala certainly wouldn't of had the same problems he had against Detroit, but Sam would just get out muscled inside by Dwight, and we'd end up getting killed by the 3 when we came to help.

The Sixers looked good those first couple of games against Detroit, but it seemed like whenever Detroit really wanted it they destroyed us. No post presence + no outside shooting would be a problem with just about everyone we could of faced.

Orlando would have won. Bad matchup for Philly.. just like Detroit is for us.

That said, if Philly can get some shooters.. they'd be very hard to beat

As a Pistons fan, I can say with confidence that it goes to at least 6 games.

Andre Miller is a big advantage over Nelson. Iguodala would have been much better against Turk.

Young has the size and athleticism to guard Lewis.

Evans/Dale could have bodied up Dwight decently.

I really think it'd be Philly in 6 or Orlando in 7.

Both younger teams who could win it on their home court.

I think it'd be 2-2 after the first 4 and whoever won game 5 would take the series.

That's really not how it'd work out at all.

Just like Detroit is a bad matchup for Orlando, Orlando is a bad matchup for Philly.

Magic in 5.
