Duncan isn't his old dominant self, even if the Spurs win he won't be better than Kobe.

I think it will. Both have a team that is capable of winning.

Duncan isn't in the running for best player in the league anymore. He took a step back this year. If the hornets won, the debate could have been settled.

What debate? There's more competition between Manu and Kobe imo. Manu is criminally underrated and one of the most efficient players I've ever watched. Kobe while being flashy and having very efficient numbers himself is almost identical in per minute stats in every category while only scoring 4 more points (per 36) and shooting much lower field goal, 3pt and ft %s (from this season, Kobe's mvp year).
Also, Manu is a historically good player in the playoffs consistently and never screws up a clutch play. If there's a reason for the Spur's continued success this year it's less Duncan and more Parker + Ginobili (more than parker) than ever before.

Thats not the issue. He's speaking of who is better now. Obviously Kobe isn't close to Duncan in terms of career greatness.

Right now Kobe is better. Doesn't matter what happens. Duncan is the superior player over their careers though and will be higher ranked after both their careers are over and deservedly so.

Feel like justifying this post? I provided a reasonable statistical and objective viewpoint and you fired back with emotional hearsay. Give me some kind of argument besides "Kobe is just better" because I see no evidence to this point. Manu has as many rings and produces at a similar level more efficiently while being much less of a volume shot taker. Also Manu and Kobe played a similar role in the playoffs when they won their championships, both playing second fiddle to a dominant big.
Edit: Also, credit Manu for the historically against the odds victory against NO on the road in game 7. Also, I'm not saying this as a biased fan of San Antonio, I'm a Sonics fan and rejoice when SA loses.

Everyone knows Kobe is the best player in the league right now. I wouldn't care if Duncan avg'ed 3 points a game vs the Lakers, as long as we win. I'm pretty sure that's all he cares about as well.

'07-'08 Kobe 28.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 5.4 apg
'07-'08 Lebron 30 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 7.2 apg
Like I said, I definitely believe Kobe has been the MVP this year, and the guy you have to label as #1 in the NBA this year. But you said no one comes close to those numbers and well, that's not true.

duncan, on the other hand, still has a tremendous effect on the game (though has has declined this year, but not to the extent people are saying). idk, i think kobe is better than duncan now, regardless of what happens in this series. Kobe is playing the best i've ever seen him play right now. This should be a really, really good series. 2nd best player of the decade (duncan) vs. 3rd best player of the decade (kobe). i am a shaq fan lol

Once again, I took the time to supply a thoughtful and reasoned argument and am met with no logical response. Give me some reasons why Kobe has better output or more affect on a game? Sure he dominates the ball but that doesn't mean he dominates the game (there are countless examples of players like that).
