Pierce, but Aguirre is definitely underrated.
Here's a comparison of their 1st 10 years:

Very similar offensively, but Pierce has been much better defensively.

Pierce, but by much less than people think, and what a great comparison to make.

Aguirre was a better shooter, and was able to get his shot off in the low post in spite of being smaller than Pierce (they listed him at 6'5" but he wasn't that tall).

Wigglestrue is right ... Aguirre was underrated.

Aguirre is more Carmelo Anthony than Paul Pierce but yeah, he suffers from playing at the same time as Bird, English, Bernard King, Dantley, and Nique, all of whom were better (except maybe Nique . . . and to say nothing of the much shorter but equal or superior peaks of guys like Marques Johnson).

Great scorer, super post up player, tended to slow the offense down a bit and felt that as a scorer it wasn't his job to play defense but for about 5 or 6 years there he would get you 25 ppg at 50%+ FG% on a winning team. Not too shabby.

The Pistons unloaded a HOF player (Dantley) to get Aguirre, and they got BETTER. That should tell you how useful Aguirre was. Still, I would take PP. He is much better on D.

Pierce is better, but Aguirre was pretty good as well.

I have to say pierce. Even though Aguirre had a decent carreer i think pierce deserves the nod for what he's brought to Boston.
