If Kevin Durant keeps on working on his games, gets stronger, gives better effort on his defense, and keeps working on his passing and shot selection, basically best case scenario what type of player do you see him becoming?

btw i tried searching for topic related to this but the search didn't come up with any results. So sorry if this topic has come up before, please point me in the right direction.

my best case scenario is the best offensive player in the NBA, and Tayshaun Prince type defense.

I really don't think he'll ever be that good defensively - he could, but I don't see it happening for some reason.

One of the best players offensively, maybe even the best, isn't that far fetched either. He could also end up averaging 7-8 rebounds, as he was a great rebounder in college and won't be at the 2 forever.

Statistically, 26-31 ppg, 6-8 rpg, 3-5 apg, 1.5 spg, 1.5 bpg, 45-48% shooting and 37-39% from 3.

Kevin Garnett with more range on the jump shot?

Not really. Garnett averaged 14 rpg for a season and 6 apg for another season, I don't see those kind of numbers. Nor do I see the ability to play PF, or the dominant defense.

Me neither. Tayshaun is arguably one of the best man defenders in the NBA right now. If he becomes the best offensive player in the league, with the defense of Tayshaun Prince, that would put him close to the level of Jordan and well over Kobe.

2003 or 2004 TMAC I think... few less assists, few more rebounds

i'd say good volume scorer, decent rebounder and not much else. almost like a taller 'melo as far as statistics go i guess.

He won't ever be a lock down defender probably, because he will have a big scoring load, but to say he doesn't have defensive potential.... He's longer and taller than Tayshaun, and he's probably a bit more athletic.

He could be a lock down defender, especially in spurts down the stretch of games.

Offensively, his length and skill is quite unique, very few players have ever had it like that.

As a rebounder, he has the instincts, and the desire, as he moves to the 3 and gains weight, expect him to move into the 6-7 range.

He won't ever be a high volume assist guy, he's like Carmelo Anthony, he will be finishing plays off, not creating for an offense.

He has a bright future, and he's a match up nightmare, no matter where you play him.

He'll be better then McGrady. Stats will be similar, but he looks far more capable to carry a team of carrying a playoff team then McGrady is. He's also way better at a younger age.

I'm looking at Durant's clutch stats on 82games.com and I'm surprised at how clutch this guy was his rookie year.

.470 fg% .04 better then his avg.
.667 3p% .35 better then his avg.
.880 ft% .01 better then his avg.

he didn't avg many assists or rebounds though, he will need to work n that.

The best scorer in the league with above average rebounding, passing, and defense.

Durant can't be that athletic if he ranked in the bottom of the draft combine.

Durant's not going to average 26-31 efficiently. I'd say he'll improve his % quite a bit by moving inside when he gets bigger and he seems like he'll be too smart of a player to just chuck shots up, especially when his team gets better

The dude is sick, he said himself, "I live for those shots." Now that's confidence, and that's what clutch scoring is all about.

Yeah, I'm surprised people are ragging on him so much as a rookie, he had a great rookie year, 20 ppg in his first season in the NBA is sick, even if he chucked it alot early.

He's just going to get better and he's going to be a freak a few years from now.

30/8/4/2blks, 42% FG, defensive player of the year candidate, would be the best case scenario imo

I think Durant best case is a Tmac/Dirk combination. If he can one day grow into his body he could become the most difficult guy in the league to matchup with.

30 7 4 would be numbers that I could see him getting very easy.

Best case scenario?

He wins 12+ NBA titles, is unstoppable on offense, a beast on defense, and ends up being known as the greatest sports athlete to ever dominate a sport.

I agree with the OP. His best case scenario is as good as Kobe is now. I'm not saying that he plays like Kobe. I'm saying that he has the potential of becoming as good as Kobe.
