Who is going to be best center in the next season? ( If Marc finally goes to NBA, he ends his contract this june.)

Marc Gasol, 7-1 C, has been MVP of the season in the best domestic profesional league outside NBA, he averaged 16 PPG 9 RPG 67% FG. 2 years ago he was a ghost compared with his actual phisical status.


PD: Marc Gasol is getting ofered 4 millon dollars deals per season by some european teams to stay in Europe.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Dwight Howard.

I think Greg Oden has a decent chance of being the best rookie center next year, but Gasol will be better than Lopez


IMHO Robin Lopez will have a better pro career than Brook Lopez because he is more versitile

No way. Brook is much better than Robin. If Lopez played overseas last year against all those soft big men on a team with actual guard play he would be seen as the 2nd coming in this draft. Gasol is not even close.

I have heard conflicting stories about Gasol......some say he is projected to be better than Pau by many European scouts, and others say he wouldnt have even been drafted if he werent related to Pau.

Either way, Ill choose him over Lopez, only because Lopez isnt going to be much of a player in the NBA.

what dont u like about brook?

i think gasol is partially getting hyped up b/c the lakers got him, the world championship helps his resume but i see brook being a very good player, a double double guy. probably not an all star but probably can be a top 5 center

both reports are right form what i've read. at the time of the draft, marc gasol was seen as a pick based on name more than anything else. however, through his play, he's turned into one of the best european prospects. his accolades this season speak for themselves.

I see someone who needs some more serious work on his future ambition of becoming NBA draft guru... Good first step here would be noticing that Spanish league's bigs are actually both more skilled and tougher than NCAA's ones.

Gasol's biggest asset is his big ass.

I disagree. There's plenty of ex-NBAers like Marcus Haislip, Jerome Moiso, and Boniface N'Dong, Mario Kasun (and I'm sure some I'm missing) who are tougher than probably 97% of NCAA bigs. Then there are top international players like Vasquez, Splitter, and Reyes are also as physical as anybody in college. There are plenty of former NCAA stars sitting on benches over there. Lou Roe was first team all-American. None of these guys are soft.

Many people in the States underrates european leagues... Marc's season has been amazing, really amazing. The ACB is a tough league, there's not joke with it, since the ACB is, no doubts, a better competition than the NCAA. If Marc was playing in the NCAA he'd have a monster season, while being the most dominating big man by far and putting a nightly 20/25-10-3-3.

IMO he's a better player than Lopez and it's not even close. Marc's not only more skilled, but also a waaaay better passer, a better overall defender and a tougher player (Marc's not the typical euro 7-footer, he's a banger, tough as a rock and enjoys physical contact).

Lopez has to improve many things before being a solid contributor in the NBA. Marc IS NBA ready, and with the logical physical improvement (just remember how Pau was when he was still in Europe...) he'll end up being a pretty good starting center in the NBA. Lopez's improvement depends on many things and it's a bit uncertain, while Marc has yet all the tools and only needs to improve physically (which is quite easy and almost a sure thing).

I think, the ACB stars who play for the top ACB teams are making similar stats per 48 minutes at the NBA teams. Marc is really big and he can pass, he can block shots, can play 1vs1... Im sure, if he goes to the NBA, he is going to play the rookie ASG for sure.
