Player reputation aside & Playoffs included who was the better player this year? I pick David West. Thoughts?

It used to be Boozer, but West was better this year overall. Especially on the defensive side.

Before this season i didnt know how bad Boozer was defensively..i kinda assumed Okur was the problem being the Euro (no racism) .. but man, hes doesnt block shots , hes out of position a lot, he fouls, hes not that good a man defender...
Hes a monster statistically, but probably gives up as much on the other end...maybe a good shot blocking center can cover his mistakes..but i gotta go with David West.

ok thats 3 for West! Alot of fans think Boozer's advantage is offensively so I ask is he a better offensive player than David West? I say no especially this yr with playoffs included. I will give Boozer the edge in rebounding though.

Come on, I know Boozer had a bad series and people are down on him but this is quite easily Boozer.

Based on this year alone? Why? Because of Boozer's rep? David West was an allstar this yr can't see how this is easily Boozer.

David West is much better defensively then Boozer. Plus I don't really like guys that like to use the art of flopping, sigh.

Boozer's got a much bigger offensive repertoire and is a better rebounder, but he's pretty much a liability on defense, he settled for jumpers too much this year and, with the exception of two or three games, he played like crap in the playoffs. Given how poorly Boozer played over the last month or two of the season and how well West played during that span, it's not surprising that most people are saying West right now. However, Boozer was terrific for most of the last two years, including last year's playoffs, and I'm guessing that some people will be changing their minds next season. That being said, it's pretty close.

For me it's West, I kind of thought he was overrated prior to the playoffs, but I didn't realize how good his midrange game is, and his own offensive game in general.

So basing Boozer off of one year is wrong and basing West off of one month is okay?

Well in my eyes you're only as good as your last season. Plenty of players stock rise based on what they've done lately & perceptions change instantly. Look at Jason Kidd, he was a great top 5 PG now he isn't close based on less than half a regular season & playoffs. But I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you saying West had only one great month(Playoffs?) all of last season? Explain because West had a great regular season playoffs included. If you think Boozer was a better overall player this past season please explain why?

Give me West. I kinda hate West but every time he shoots a midrange jumper, it's going in. Boozer used to be automatic too but his range was never as good as West's and he didn't hit anything from outside in the playoffs.
Plus, West is a better defender and he's a pretty good driving to the rim.

Boozer.
Younger and better.
Boozer was a 20/10 guy this year.

I'll take West now but Boozer could turn it around with a motivated season.....

Boozer is a much better offensive player, it's ridiculous to think otherwise.
West is a much better defender, he's 6'9 with a 7'4.25 wingspan, and he gives a damn.
Boozer is a beast on the glass, West is solid there.
Edge to Boozer, he needs a Tyson Chandler at C, not spot up shooter....

I find this comparison funny.
I find it funny that Deron and CP will always be linked, and now these guys.
NO and UTH fans must really be getting sick of each other.

Okur makes everything happen on their offense. He takes out the center and lets Boozer and Deron do anything inside.

I think NO-KG-AI brought up a good point, and that is Boozer's defense would look completely different if he had Chandler next to him instead of Okur who is as much a matador as Boozer.

West isn't that far off, but I'd take Boozer over him pretty quickly when faced with this decision.
