everybody talks about how clearing cap space to max out player is so great but imo id rather have two really good players at 10 mil a year, like a caron butler and manu ginobili, instead of a lebron james, thoughts?

Great player, not close. I can see the argument for any other sport but basketball, but it's proven time and time again this is a superstar league.

IMO you need 2 decent players. Look at Kobe, he's the best player in the league but even he needs someone to stop the other team from doubling. That's why Lebron won't win a championship unless he gets a 2nd option.

LeBron > Kidd-Carter-Jefferson
LeBron > Detroit Pistons

Only teams which lead by great players such as Boston and Spurs has been able to beat LeBron. Yes, Detroit beat him once but he was only 21 years old and it was his first playoff appearence so I didn't count it.

So it's easily the great player, but also remember that one great player is never enough! (to win a championship)

You're forgetting someone named Boobie Gibson that w/o him LeBron would have lost the series against the Pistons.

Even with that, Kobe(who is better than LeBron) couldn't win a series in the West w/o getting help.

Depends on what people consider "great". For me, I can count the number of "great" players in the league on one hand. Listing them would just derail the thread so I'm not going to do that. But the point is, great players are rare. If you have a chance to get one, you do it. At all costs.

1 great player >>>> 2 good players

I never said LeBron beat those teams single handidly. I didn't say he beat them without help. It's impossible. But great players like LeBron and Kobe can turn guys like Boobie Gibson into playoff heroes, good players can't do that, couple of very good players can't do that also as we see in the cases I mentioned.(wizards, nets...) That's why 1 true great player is better than 2 or 3 very good player.

so my questions is this, if u pull lebron off cleveland and add manu and butler (i knw manu is a spur) would the cavs hav not went to the finals?

The Cavs wouldn't have come close to beating Boston without LeBron. El oh el.

Great player, easily. I'll take a great player over three or even four good ones, because it's easier to surround him with talent eventually.
