Who's greater or who's better? If it's who's better, than Kobe easily. If it's who's greater than you have to take a hard look at it, but i think this playoff push, even w/o the chip, has pushed Kobe a little ahead.

I think bryant is better than west. I'd take either one of them over the Big O tho.

Bryant is definitely the better player but if you're talking about career and accomplishments, they're close.

West is more clutch. Career and accomplishments is in favour of West too.

With a Finals MVP this year he would pass West for sure.

When Kobe retires he'll most likely pass West.

What do you need? Kobe is the better 2, West is the better PG, relative to competition I'd say Kobe has been closer to the best player of his time than West ever was.

West is one of my fav players, but I have no problems if you pick Kobe over him.

(As a player, not as a Laker... Kobe still has to GM two decades like Jerry to overtake him...)

on this board, jerry west has been described as a player who was better defensively than payton, better shooter than reggie miller, quicker than wade, faster than tony parker, longer arms than elton brand, more clutch than jordan, smarter than kidd, better handles than AI and more intense than KG.

i don't see how anyone can beat that...so i'd have to go with west.

Of course Kobe has been described as Michael Jordan with superior skills, athleticism, and competitiveness so take those with a grain of salt Prop.

West was more clutch, better shooter, better defensively, and tougher. Got to go with him.

Kobe was more clutch, better defensively, tougher and had much more of a work ethic. Got to go with him.

Someone actually said that Kobe is superior to MJ athletically? maybe the 40 something year old MJ right now.

If there was a 3pt. line and steals were counted, West would have quite a few more records to his name - even without it he led the league in TS% twice in his career.

Good post.
Right now, I still think West is better than Kobe; even though the comparison is really really close.
