Do you guys think Michael Beasley is comparable to Shareef Abdur-Rahim?

Both are 6-9 240 combo forwards. Abdur-Rahim entered the League at about the same age Beasley is now. He averaged 18.7 ppg and 6.9 rpg in his rookie year, and was a 20/10 player for most of his prime. I think that's pretty much the same we can expect of Beasley.

Abdur-Rahim was a loser, his prime lasted like 2 years.

Rahim had an incredible 8 year run as a 20/10 (or close to it), durable, player.

All Grizzlies management had to do was put an actual team around him and he'd be getting HOF recognition right now.

Yeah, I partially agree. Beasley will most likely have similar stats but actually a better career since he will most likely go to Chicago or Miami.

I definitely see the comparisons. I think Beasley is a bit more fluid than a young SAR, but generally, I see it. Ultimately, if Beasley wants to improve from being at that level, I think he has to become a better passer. That was one of SAR's main problems--that and that like some others in the league, although he was supremely talented, he just didn't have it in him to be really dominant. We'll see how that turns out for Beasley.

Beasley is an aggressive guy in the paint, and on the glass.

SAR had 10 rebounds ONCE and 20ppg 6 times, and he was never that efficient from the field, and he played close to 40 minutes. I would be dissapointed if Beasley never out played SAR

They are depressingly similar, but I think Beasley will wind up edging out SAR in terms of efficiency.

Rahim would be talked about AND/OR would be multiple All-Stars if he played for another team, a successful team.

The Grizzlies WAS and IS ran very poorly.

Rahim never got to play with a successful a team, sure, he is partly to blame, as he is paid to help the team win. But you can only do so much with the talent you have in your team and how you fare against the opponents.

Good comparison. Both are more undersized PF's than SF's. Both can score in the post, rebound, and yea...that's about it. Neither passes nor defends well.

Beasley had better defensive #s than Durant.

I expect that Beasley will do considerably better.

nice comparison, i think beasely's gonna average double digit rebounds for more seasons though.

i think it will be fairly close but with beasley likely having a slighly better career in the end.

SAR was a much more perimeter oriented player and not even close to the rebounding force that Beasley will be his rookie season.

SAR only got double digit rebounds one season in his entire career.

Better than 21/10 on an eight-year average? I don't think Beasley is that good. He's not a Kobe- or LeBron-type of talent.

Beasley was better than abdur rahim in every single category in college..especially as a rebounder.

Their skillset is very similar, but if I had to compare them Beasley is a "better version" of Abdur Rahim

Not a bad comparison, but I can't help but thinking Beasley's floor is SAR.

Beasley can be a good passer and his D is made out to be worse than it is. He won't completely be a sieve.
