I assume you mean at their prime in the NBA?

MJ
Shaq
TD
Hakeem
Kobe

4 NBA Final MVPs, and another guy who is current MVP and 4 games away from Finals mvp.

1.) MJ
2.) Shaq
3.) Duncan
4.) Kobe
5.) Hakeem

For me, Lebron hasn't done enough yet, but I think he'll eventually crack the top five

1. Jordan

4. Duncan
5. Kobe

How are people putting Kobe ahead of Hakeem? I'm sure he'll pass both Hakeem and Duncan, but it hasn't happened yet.

Most Jazz fans will say to this...Malone vs. Robinson, Malone dominated Robinson...so what? its not like where comparing each player going against one another. The thing is Robinson was a much more complete player then Malone. Defensively the guy was a monster, his passing abilities outweigh Malones. His rebounding ability was greater then Malone, only thing Malone may have had an edge on in his prime was scoring, even then Robinson in his prime was a prolific scorer.

This is pretty much a " who are the top 5 players ever since 1980" thread.

No cause then the top 3 would easily be Jordan, Magic, and Bird. Magic and Bird were drafted in 78 and 79.

As the thread starter, you fail. No Duncan on the list? Kobe 3rd, LeBron 4th? Neither one is top 5, yet. Kobe will soon be, LeBron has got a while to go.

1. Michael Jordan
2. Shaquille O'Neal
3. Hakeem Olajuwon
4. Tim Duncan
5. Isiah Thomas

To me, the top 5 players have to have won (lead) teams to championships, won multiple awards, and been arguably the best player at their position for long stretches.

Michael Jordan
6 championships (6 Finals MVP's)
5 MVP's
Often referred to as Greatest Of All-Time (GOAT)

Shaquille O'Neal
4 championships (3 Finals MVP's)
1 MVP (tragedy, should have 2 or 3)
Easily the most dominant Center the past 30 years

Hakeem Olajuwan
2 championships (2 Finals MVP's)
1 MVP
best defensive player in past 25 years

Tim Duncan
4 championships (3 Finals MVP's)
2 MVP's
consistent winner (has won with all kinds of teams, talented and not)

Isiah Thomas
2 championships (1 Finals MVP)
0 MVP's
incredibly clutch performer with no conscience
wasn't initmidated by GOAT (see above)

Thats right Isiah, I knew there was one missing from that list, he IMO goes down before Kobe to, that Detriot team was a top 10 all time team.
