This is a topic that arose from the 1998 vs. 2003 thread, and turned into a Dirk vs. Bosh thread, thought I'd like to inform you what the situation is.

The question...who do you think is the better player?

But what about just not producing as well as Dirk? Do we blame that on Bosh or on the Raptors?

So, who would you take?

I'd go with Dirk between the 2.

Dirk is better.

Bosh

Bosh is more athletic but Dirk is the better player.

Dirk is mentally weak and a choker. But as of now I'll still take him.

Dirk is more athletic IMO. He could play SF if he wanted to. Watch him take it to the basket.

They're not at the same level.

Dirk is significantly better than Bosh.

Its not fair to compare both of them as Bosh has yet to his his prime, and Dirk has already been there and done that. If you're comparing them statistically in their first 5 years, its pretty even. If you want to compare statistically for this season, its pretty even.

But as far as career goes, you gotta take Dirk. In his true prime [04-05, 05-06, 06-07] he lead the league in wins shares in all of those years, lead the league in PER in two of those years, and was essentially a 26/9.2/48%/41% player. Dirk is the only big man in NBA history to put up 50/40/90 shooting %'s too. The man is an offensive machine.

He gets a lot of flak for being a "chocker" in the play-offs, but most of it is uncalled for IMO. His career play-off averages are 25/11/45%/37% which is very solid.

Dirk could play the 3 but Bosh couldn't?

Dirk is a choker, but didn't Bosh choke as well in last year's playoffs against the Nets? Also, he was contained in quite a few games during this season's playoffs...

I would take Dirk. He's the better offensive player, in terms of both scoring, shooting range, and passing.

That was Bosh's first ever playoff series and he had no prior playoff experience. calling him a choker is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) based on that series, let alone his first ever playoff series.

this comparison isn't even close. you're comparing an all star forward to a former MVP who led his team to a historic season. okay, maybe the MVP wasn't deserved, and he and his team collapsed horribly in the post-season, but those feats alone are enough to easily say Dirk>Bosh.

Let's see...Bosh avg'd 8.7 rpg and the second best rebounder averaged 6.2 rpg (Jamario Moon). No one else averaged over 5 rpg...besides, I didn't know 9 rebounds in 36 minutes was great, "my bad"...T-Spot. Care to explain why he regressed by 2 rpg from last season? again, no great rebounders next to him...

Dirk averaged 8.6 rpg with three other players averaging over 6.5 rpg...

Not to mention that Bosh has to battle Bargnani for boards about half the game...I can see how that would be hard...Andrea's rebounding avg...

Mentally tougher? Dirk...no question about it.
In his prime, he was a mean player who caused mismatches for the elite teams, including the Spurs. They had to put Bowen on Dirk and even that didn't work in Game 7 of 2006 Playoffs, when he abused Bowen for 37 and 15 (Duncan outmatched him with 41 and 15) but he hit the crucial shot to force OT where Duncan was shut down.

All I saw from Bosh in the playoffs was him being abused by RASHARD LEWIS! Not Dwight Howard (who did his part), but Rashard Lewis...bring up that 8th seed choke drama, but had Dirk's teammates hit their shots, they'd have won. It doesn't rest on Dirk, but the team as a whole.

I'd bet you my son Chris Bosh will never reach Dirk's peak, where he was considered among the top 5 players during a 2-4 year stretch. Hell, there were comparisons on who was better between Dirk and Garnett/Duncan a couple years back...

I'll say it again...Raptor fans are hysterical! You guys were comparing Jose Calderon to Nash and Stockton throughout the season. You still fail to give up on a carbon copy of Chris Bosh (mentally) and no skills (see Kris Humphries) in Andrea Bargnani - a "jumpshooting" big man with even worse defense and rebounding than Chris Bosh... It was Bargnani's first playoffs series as well, and he outplayed Bosh for arguably half of the games against the Nets.

Dirk is better by quite a bit. He's a much better shooter and passer. Bosh is a better rebounder, and they both suck at defense.

I'll take Dirk now, but Bosh is till young.

You're arguing with the wrong guy. I think I clearly stated that a prime Dirk was far superior to what Bosh has shown so far, and never mentioned anything about rebounding. [If you ask me, he was worn down by injuries and playing out of position against centers this season, which led to his dip in rebounding.]

Bosh is a better rebounder imo. He regressed this year but barring injuries, watch what he does next year. Trust me, this year his goal was 12 rpg. Let's just see what happens in 08/09 before we dub him a bad rebounder.
Bosh gets to the line more often.
Bosh is a lot younger.
Dirk hasn't shed the "choker" label since the finals. I'm waiting for him to rebound. Maybe Dirk needs a change of scenery.
Bosh is arguably a better leader as well. I mean, what was one of the main things J-Kidd was gonna provide? Exactly, leadership, which the Mavericks were lacking.

As I said before, I like them both but I'll take Chris Bosh.
