Jordan

Kobe has the rings and a MVP.

T-Mac has never won a playoff series.

definitely Mac IMO..

while Kobe is much better right now, and it's not even close..A LOT of people were picking a prime McGrady over Kobe earlier in the decade, including myself..injuries definitely hurt Mac, but who knows what would have happened if Shaq was playing with him, instead of Kobe..this was a pretty frequent topic of discussion back then..

I don't really think Kobe and McGrady are close now or in a career perspective, but IMO, Kobe isn't even close to Jordan at all..nothing against Kobe, but this guy is considered by most to be the best player OF ALL-TIME..

Honestly, he is closer to Jordan than T-Mac. Regardless of what happens in this series, Kobe is one of the 15 best players to ever play. He was a superstar for three championship teams, he has an MVP, and he's been to the Finals 5 times, and he's going to end up being considered one of the Top 2-3 SGs of all time.

T-Mac is a great talent but is he even Top 50 of all time? Top 75?

Statistically T-mac, on the all-time lists Jordan.

Mainly because T-mac may be top 35 all time, while Kobe is at worst top 15 all time.

Yeah, at best he's maybe a Top 35 talent, but his accomplishments and resume are woefully lacking.

If T-Mac played on those Shaq led teams he would have rings also. He's nowhere near Jordan's level in anything so it's T-Mac.

Peak ability he's closer to TMac, of course TMac was unbelievable for a while so thats nothing to scoff at.

Obviously he's closer to Jordan in terms of accomplishments but that doesn't require a poll.

:noway: You can't base your argument on "What if?" scenarios. Maybe T-Mac wins with Shaq, maybe he doesn't. You'll never know and I'll never know.

this is what I meant in my post, just to clarify..which is why I made the comparison of McGrady's prime to Kobe's..

Jordan is at worst Top 2. Peers: Wilt, Russ, KAJ

Kobe is about Top 12. Peers: Malone, Malone, West

T-Mac is about Top 50. Peers: Dantley, Bing, VC

So Kobe is nearer to MJ, IMHO.

I just want to respond to your post, I wouldn't say woefully lacking.

-7 time all star
-7 time all NBA team (2 time 1st, 3 time 2nd, 2 time 3rd)
-Had one of the greatest statistical seasons in 2002-2003
-One of the top play off performers, even though he hasn't been out of the first round. His career average is around 28,6,6 in the playoffs, which not even Jordan nor Kobe himself match, 5th in scoring ppg btw.
2 time scoring champ
-The Rockets winning percentage without Tmac is 25%, while with him its a soaring high 62%+

The guy has just had some bad breaks throughout his career, pretty sad, imagine McGrady and Hill in their prime, I can easily see them both leading Orlando to the finals. With Yao hes had some tough breaks as well, hopefully the future is better for the guy.

in terms of greatness, it's easily Jordan. Greatness is not just prime, but includes team success and accolades.

There's a slight chance that Tmac might not even make the HoF.

Tmac's a hard player to evaluate. He's definitely one of the great talents, but he hasn't had the mental aspect for much of his career. He has the amazing stats, but no playoff/team success. Who knows how good he could have been had he had some mentality and success? As for this, reluctantly, he's closer to Jordan b/c Tmac's career got screwed up.
