Well i thought ray ray was washed up too with his horrible outtings in the first 2 playoffs series, so I wouldn't have even thought of this comparison...now hmm...

Both players are jumpshooter, love to come off screens....However my jaw dropped looking at the last game Ray had. That unbelievable up and under and the ridiculous blow by sasha...not because it isn't an nba move, because Ray has had terrible ankles, and at his age, I could not believe the quickness....I always picture ray ray as a darker reggie miller clone, with a sweet stroke but iffy drive...

Ray's the more complete player overall. Better ball handler, 3 pt shooter, slasher, and playmaker. Hamilton has the edge in moving off the ball, midrange, and a slightly better rebounder. Both guys are clutch as hell.

If you asked me right now, I'll still take Ray for the moment because he's still on the tail end of his prime. Rip is probably just entering his prime, and so if you asked me who I wanted for my team with the future in mind, I'd take Rip.

It's hard to say who's better at moving without the ball, because there really is no way of measuring that statistic. It may appear that Hamilton is better at moving without the ball, because that's what he's known for, while Allen is known for his 3 point prowess. Having said that, Allen is tremendous moving without the ball too, bar none, one of the best in the game and up there with Hamilton.

Rip is the better player right now. He takes easier shots and he creates more open shots for himself than Ray does, AND he gets to the line a lot more than Ray. Both are decent on individual and help defence, but offensively I think Rip has the edge

Ray a year ago was a 26 points per game scorer. Ray is a third option now and he still averaging more points per game than Rip. Rip was better in the series this year but overall I think Ray is still a better player. Ray at his peak was much better than Rip any season.

RIP needs a new nickname. Portland has been Rip City for 30+ years now.

Ray had/has the ability to be more devastating than what Rip can possibly do. Not to say Rip's not an efficient player, because he is, but Ray Allen is the guy who can take a game over.

Ray got outplayed by RIP easily and only had a good series when he got played by Bryants poor defense.
