1. Hal Greer
2. Moncrief (w/o the defense)
3. DJ (on his best day)
4. Bing (hes not realy close to him but his game is similar. hes a very poor mans Bing)
5. Blackman
6. Scott
He reminds me a little of Fat Lever but hes not close the defender.
That list is a bit confusing because the players are so different.
1. Greer was an undersized combo guard but much more a pure midrange jump shooter with good catch and shoot skills who could handle. Not as long or athletic as Roy, but a higher motor.
2. Moncrief without the sick defense I could see. Versatile all around player able to play 3 positions and with both a good drive and a solid midrange game. Doesn't seem to be as efficient offensively, but also doesn't have as many offensive weapons to draw off double coverage nor is he as injury prone as Moncrief. Again, less of a motor, Moncrief was one of the most relentless two way players ever.
3. DJ . . . on whose best day, DJ's or Roy's? More the older DJ when he played for the Celts than the younger DJ of the Supersonics . . . that's pretty good company though Roy again is outclassed defensively.
4. Can't see this either. Bing was a shooter, pure and sweet, liked to shoot a lot of leaners and relied on speed and quicks, not size.
5. Blackman is a nice comp. Quiet, steady, good midrange and good size to post up smaller guards; Roy's handle is better.
6. Which Scott: Byron, Charlie, or Dennis? . . . though all three again are long range gunners who would gladly jack up three pointers. Much quicker and more athletic than Dennis, not the gunner that Charlie was (though physically the most similar player), Byron was more an undersized catch and shoot two (though playing next to Magic, that's what you needed).
I'd go with Rolando Blackman with better handles; a solid do it all 2 with good size.
