All-Hornets Team vs. All-Magic Team

Post#1 » by RJM » Thu Jun 19, 2008 6:29 am

What team would win in a seven-game series?

All-Hornets Team

PG - Chris Paul/Baron Davis/David Wesley
SG - Eddie Jones/Kendall Gill/JR Smith
SF - Glen Rice/Jamal Mashburn/Peja Stojakovic
PF - Larry Johnson/David West/PJ Brown
C - Alonzo Mourning/Vlade Divac/Jamaal Magloire

vs.

All-Magic Team

PG - Penny Hardaway/Darrell Armstrong
SG - Nick Anderson/Mike Miller/Dennis Scott
SF - Tracy McGrady/Dominique Wilkins/Hedo Turkoglu
PF - Horace Grant/Rashard Lewis/Bo Outlaw
C - Shaquille O'Neal/Rony Seikaly/Patrick Ewing

Who takes it in seven?

Keep in mind this is every Hornet player in their absolute prime + health.

Do the Magic get prime Ewing and prime Nique?

But even if they don't, I've got to go with Orlando. Shaq/Tmac/Penny plus some great depth is just too much.

The Hornets doesn't have chance. Especiall if you put Dwight and the Hill guy also (we're talking about prime, aren't we? Penny'd average 15 assists lol.....he would yout throw the ball up (no matter where), and someone would dunk it easily.
The Hornets need a little tweaking also....Chandler is already better then Magloire ever was.

Ok, I don't think it should be prime. I think it should be as good as they ever were for that team. That way you take out a lot of projection and conjecture.

That being said, T-Mac had his best years on the Magic, Shaq made a finals, Penny only shined there before injuries, and Dwight is now coming into his own. That is a beastly lineup.

But I think a lot of people are underestimating the Hornets. They have the sickest PG rotation. Hornets Baron Davis + 2008 Chris Paul is a lot more than Penny can contend with. I think the Magic have a real problem in the backcourt. Also, don't underrate Zo, who held his own vs. Shaq those years he was with the Magic. Zo and LJ was a sick interior tandem, and this team is stacked with athletic shooters on the wings. They are very well balanced and deep. They might lack the star power of the Magic starters but I think they would have some success in a 7-game series.

All-Hornets Team

PG - Chris Paul/Baron Davis/Kenny Anderson (15/9)
SG - Eddie Jones/Kendall Gill (21/5/4/2)/Hersey Hawkins (14/5/3)
SF - Glen Rice (27 on 47% 3s)/Jamal Mashburn/Peja Stojakovic
PF - Larry Johnson (22/11/4)/David West/PJ Brown/Armon Giliam (20/9)
C - Alonzo Mourning (21/11/3.5)/Vlade Divac (13/9)/Tyson Chandler

+ Dell Curry, Rex Chapman, Eddie Johnson, Scott Burrell, Muggsy Bogues (9/11), Anthony Mason (16/11), Tony Delk 46%, Ricky Pierce 53%

Wow, i dunno, CP3 with all these shooters? Hawkins, Stojakovic, Mash, Rice, Gill, Jones, Curry, Pierce, Burrell, Delk....

in 96/97 season the hornets had SEVEN guys who shot over 40% from threes!
-Pierce, Rice, Delk, Goldwire, Curry, Bogues, and Addison.

Obviously the Magic would be a more dominant team, but if this hornets team is on all cylinders, a quick tempo game could spell disaster. Plus, a lot of those guys are ball hawks. Hawkins, Paul, Gill, Jones, and Bogues were pickpocketers. Get a bunch of quick guys running around denying shaq and Howard the ball and then CP3 leading a fast break and finding the most open 3 point shooter could be a interesting game to watch.

Are you talking about guys in primes? Cuz the Magic team has Nique, Ewing, Shaq, TMac, Penny, Grant Hill (who's not up there), Dwight... not to mention Rashard and Hedo (who are both in their primes now, I guess)...

Pretty tough decision

The Magic team **** on the Hornets, you have prime Shaq, Penny, and Tmac which is enough IMO to take them out.
