Who would you rather have?

Give me Dumars.

One can make the case that Pierce is a better "all-around" player, but Dumars is the type of player that makes any team easily better. He'll shut down the opposing team's best perimeter player and he'll stretch the defense with his shooting. Add that he was an excellent playmaker from the 2-spot and that he was tremendously clutch, and I'll take the 1989 Finals MVP over the 2008.

Pierce...better scorer and rebounder. Dumars could play some point and was a better defender, but Pierce is a pretty good playmaker himself and a very good defender. This is a good comparison actually. Both won finals mvp's, both are pretty clutch. Though if it's the last shot, I want pierce taking it. Pierce gets to the free throw line more. He gets way more defensive attention than dumars, too.

Yea, Pierce over Dumars.

Close call, but it's Pierce.

Pierce could step up to Dumars' standard on defense more easily that Dumars could step up to Pierce's on scoring.

Obviously, the swingman is the better rebounder and the combo guard is the better passer.
