At 34 years old and 5 years removed from a devestating knee injury, Bernard put up 28.4 for Washington in 90/91.
Look at some of these games he had:
Nov 20: 45 points off 18/30 with 5 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals
Nov 27: 39 points off 16/28 with 7 boards and 4 assists
Dec 22: 46 points off 20/30 with 6 boards and 6 assists
Dec 29: 52 points off 20/35 with 8 boards and 6 assists
Jan 03: 46 points off 17/24 with 6 boards and 4 steals
Jan 10: 45 points off 18/30
Jan 31: 49 points off 20/35 with 11 boards and 5 assists (not bad huh)
Feb 07: 47 points off 19/35 with 8 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals
Mar 06: 50 points off 18/31 with 6 boards and 4 steals

Man, those are some disgusting numbers.
Plus, I can't believe he led the league in usage rate that season when he was 34 years-old.

Bernard was a baller. If it wasn't for his injuries I def think he would and should be considered as good as Drexler. I still do, but I know most people don't rank him that high.

it's too bad he had to get injured. if he was healthy and the knicks still got ewing (he got hurt 2/3 through the 84-'85 season) then they may have been contenders in the late 80s, especially with mark jackson.
all of this is hypothetical because they would have a different record with him and thus different draft positions, but it still is nice to think about as a ringless knicks fan.

didn't he also play in a game with like 4 dislocated fingers on his shooting hand and put up some crazy numbers?

In the Detroit series, IIRC. He was a freaking nightmare for the Pistons.

The game came so easy for him, so efficient for such a high volume scorer. Had a 5 year stretch where he nearly shot 55% including one season with 33 ppg on 53% shooting. Absolutely ridiculous, when talking about big time scorers to have ever played no one mentions him, real unfortunate he wasn't able to stay healthy.

The Human Highlight Film avg 29.1 ppg in his age of 34, though only 25 games in Clippers...
They were someway similar, though not the same style...
Both natural-born scorer...maybe best just behind MJ since Bird's back-hurt , in 1985-1994.
Both were refused by DREAM TEAM for 1992 Olympic games for D.
In his 34 King can't guard anyone but he could still score 28 per night with broken knee.
