Corey Magette @ 6mil MLE or Rashard Lewis @ 20 mil per season, same skillset with Lewis being more preimeter oriented and Magette more of a slasher that frequently gets to the line. Stat wise and impact-wise they are comparable but salary-wise well thats another story altogether.

P.S Otis Smith is f@ck#ng idiot and a brainless moron, he could've waited this off-season for his SF,SG in Magette and could've had him a whole lot cheaper in the process.

Not the same thing, they really wanted shooters to spread the floor for Dwight, and that was big part of Dwight's offensive jump, spacing. Shard is a prolific shooter, Corey isn't.

Upon further analysis, the 2 a comparable players posting identical statistics. I beg to differ on Magics need for shooters, Lewsi was pretty much redundant last year with Bogans, Turk and Redick can equally provide the same impact from the perimeter, the Magic had a great deal and need for an athletic slasher that gets to the line on a regular occasion.

Redick really?

Lewis hit almost 2 more 3's per game than Hedo and Bogans, and he shot them at a higher clip still....

Maggette doesn't even look like he wants to go there, so what happens if he doesn't, then they would have no Lewis or Maggette, and still wouldn't have any cap space.

It should be Lewis, regardless.

All I know is Orlando will continue to have issues at times in the regular season, and of course moreso in the playoffs, if Rashard is the PF again. I know why he played there last season, but you can't continue on with that line-up.

Get Dwight his helper big man, or just an additional big who will play decent minutes.

if the magic wouldnt of used the cap space last season they wouldnt of had any this season because of the dwight and jameer contract extensions kicking in... shard is overpaid... we get it... he along with the improvement of dwight and hedo going off this past season earned 12 more wins... ok so orlando over paid about 6-7 mill a year.... the magic improved and look to be on the verge of possibly getting to the ecf next season... and they might get magette anyways...

and unless you pay shards contract outta youre pocket give it a rest... who gives two ****...

Okay, this is a no brainer considering contracts.

However, for the Magic Rashard is a much better fit. They needed someone to space the floor so Dwight could excel in the post without a million turnovers from players collapsing on him. Maggette gets to the line, which means he's slashing in the paint. His shot isn't that strong, so it doesn't open the floor for Dwight.

Considering the players the Magic had...Hedo isn't the shooter that Lewis is, and wouldn't have been as good of a shooter himself without playing alongside Shard. JJ Redick was a predictable bust. They have drafted Courtney Lee with the obvious intent of letting the Dukie walk. Meer is a really streaky shooter, but he's better as slashing like Maggette. So adding Lewis was their best shot at getting a guy with an elite J who could actually space the floor.

They massively overpaid, yes. The argument that they were gonna run out of cap space anyhow with extensions is horrible, though. Giving Rashard a reasonable contract allows you to trade him if things go south. Now you're stuck signing third-rate free agents instead of getting your pick of the litter because your team is worried about the luxury tax. They have the players to attract good free agents, but they have hamstrung themselves so horrendously that it will be impossible to add them without hitting the tax threshold. As it is, the Magic have $10 million to drop on five players.

Rashard is a much better player than Maggette, and that's not even considering that he's an even better fit. That said, the contract was ridiculous, and I'll easily take Maggette if you consider contracts.

Magette would be ORL's Hedo.

And last year Hedo was probuly better overall then Rashard'

I wonder what ORL is going to do when Hedo expires? He'll probuly get a MLE from some team.

even without the salary, it's tough for me..rashard is a better shooter but maggette is stronger, goes tot the line a lot and is a better defender

Not if you include defense.
