Brand vs. Bosh

We're having this discussion on the raptors board. Who is a better player?
My opinion is that Brand is 20/10 guy but on losing teams. Bosh puts up similar numbers but he's a winner and much more of a matchup problem. The raptors have built around Bosh but I don't think you can build a team around Brand as your franchise player.

Brand has been better over his career, similar offensive production, but he's also a great defender/shot blocker.
Who would I rather have going into next season? Chris Bosh.

I think Bosh is better. Just more of a match up problem.
However, I really don't see why you can't build a team around Brand. He is, IMO, the 7th best PF in the league at a time where many of the best players are PFs.
Just FYI, my PF rankings go:
1 T Duncan
2 K Garnett
3 D Nowitzki
4 A Stoudemire
5 C Bosh
6 C Boozer
7 E Brand
so yeah, really don't see any problem with having Brand as your franchise player as all the other guys on the list are franchise players.

There isn't a way in the world that Boozer is a better player then Brand. It's really not all that close either, give me Brand at both ends of the floor.

Brand far surpasses Bosh on the defensive end which is the deciding factor me. Give me Brand. Elton Brand.

Just a month or so ago everybody would take Boozer over Brand.

LOL Brand lower than Boozer hahahahahaha....
Boozer was no where to be seen in the playoffs, where as Brand brought his best game. Boozer doesn't play a modicum of defense, where as Brand is great, to excellent when he wants to be...
I'll take Brand any day...
As for Brand over Bosh, offensively its a wash, even though Bosh is slightly less efficient, his quickness is superior to Brand. But as far as rebounding and defense goes, Brand trumps Bosh easily. Brand is one of the top offensive rebounder in the league, and like I said plays great defense...
IMO the top 10 would go like this:
Kevin Garnett
Tim Duncan
Amare Stoudemire
Dirk Nowitzki
Elton Brand
Chris Bosh
Pau Gasol
Al Jefferson
Carlos Boozer
David West

u can't possibly say that with a straight face. elton has made the playoffs once in his career. he didn't step up, he just continued his career season that he has never replicated.

Wait, so its Elton's fault that he got injured? That could happen to any player in the league at any time. Its totally unexpected...
Brand has been competing at an Elite level for the majority of his career. Yeah Boozer is a terror on offense, but he disappears when the pressure is on. He also has one of the top 3 point gaurds in the league to facilitate him. Who did Brand have? Cassel? He's never seen a shot that he didn't like. Shaun Livingston? Has he every played more than 50 games a season? Boozer had quite a few games in the playoffs where he was no where to be seen.
Like a true leader/star Brand stepped up the one time his team made the playoffs and played like an MVP. Its not his fault that clippers management is too inept to sign decent players to surround him. When they had a solid team, they produced.

Watch me...
Why do people keep on pointing to the fact that Elton has made the playoffs once in his career? Garnett was never able to get out of the 1st round no matter how many times he made the playoffs. Does anyone question his greatness? Why is it the players fault when management can't put a solid lineup around their star player? When Brand had a good team, he delivered, and that too at an MVP level... Please look at the post above for my reasons on why Brand is a superior player to Boozer...

Says who? You seem to have a thing for offensive minded PFs with little defensive prowness.

I don't think any sane person would take Boozer over Brand. I'm not even sure Boozer does anything better than Brand, let alone him being a better player. Well maybe rebounding, but the difference there isn't significant enough.

lol i can't be bothered now but I can assure you that before the playoffs started, absolutely every one would have taken Boozer over Brand.
Shows how much of a "what have you done for me lately" mentality most posters on RealGM have...

lol.
at least KG "made" the playoffs many times.
Brand's team averaged like 30 wins per season. (Not that it' was his fault)
anyway, back to the topic, if Brand's perfectly healthy, it could be Brand by a slight margin.

I'll take Bosh. He is such a match-up problem on offence since he can score so many different ways. Bosh has much better range on his shot where he has proved that he can even step back and hit the 3 pointer now. I know that Brand is better than Bosh on defence but he isn't that type of defender who can change a game on the defensive side. Not to mention Bosh is also 5 years younger and isn't coming off an injury plagued season.

I used to feel Brand was better. But I choose Bosh. Hes come such a long way leading a team to the play offs. He has no threat on the outside so he faces double and trippled teams almost every trip on O. Brand dissapointed me. He only went to the play offs once.
