Wilt, Barkley, and Erving vs. Russell, KG, and Bird.
I wanted to put Moses Malone on the sixers, but he was more of a center, and Barkley was more power foward than Moses. This is a pretty even matchup imo. Bird probably had the best real fronctourt ever, and russell and kg are clear upgrades from parrish and mchale.
So, if all of these players were in their primes, which froncourt trio would you take?

Wilt never looked that good vs Russell. Wilt cannot really use his trademark finger rolls vs Russell, and often resorted to fadeaways and hook shots. Barkley is horrible on defense, but is a low post player and clutch in contrast to jumpshooting, crunchtime-shy KG. Erving vs Bird is slightly pro Bird; also take into account that Doc will have a tough time slashing to the basket if Russell is guarding the hoop.
I admit I am a BOS homer, so BOS.

Wilt never looked that good against Russell? You may want to check your facts.

Well Wilt beat did Russell once in the Playoffs during his entire career, so not never, very rarely would be a better phrasing.

Wilt was averaged 28 pts vs Russell and 36-37 pts vs anyone else until Bill's retirement in 1969. Shaving over 25% off your score is pretty good in my book. The only year where Wilt really owned Russ was in 1967, and for the rest, Russ always found way to shave *just* enough points off Wilt so that BOS won.
