Scalabrines Top 20 Small Forwards of Feb.

Post#1 » by Scalabrine » Sun Mar 1, 2009 11:31 pm

This month was a short month (only 28 days and the ASG) but that doesnt mean there wont be a Top 20 SF list for the month. The list is based on offense, defense, importance to team, and to a lesser extent team success. After reading the list, in a mature way, discuss who should be higher, lower, who is up and coming and may be on his way up the list, and who may be off the list completely.

1. LeBron James - Even with Durants imporved play, is there any debate?
2. Kevin Durant - Its amazing the difference in game Durant has had since moving to SF, he has been dominant.
3. Paul Pierce - Pierce has been consistently great all season long, nothing new this month.
4. Carmelo Anthony - Melo is healthy and showing that hes back, he averaged 23 points and 8 rebounds for the month.
5. Ron Artest - Artests role has increased on offense since TMac went down, and hes back to being one of the top two way players in the game, such a beast.
6. Caron Butler
7. Andre Iguodala
8. Danny Granger
9. Hedo Turkoglu
10. Richard Jefferson
11. Rudy Gay
12. Josh Howard
13. Corey Maggette
14. Marvin Williams
15. Wilson Chandler
16. Al Thornton
17. Luol Deng
18. Tayshaun Prince
19. Rasual Butler
20. Grant Hill

Maggette plays PF.

What about Stephan Jackson? Do you not consider him a SF?

We had this discussion in the SG list, where he is listed 4th. The argument I had was that he plays alot of point guard in that offense and Nellie really only has two positions, Center and guard. He could be a SF but I put him at SG.

I like the list. Also let me further show how Artest has expanded his role since McGrady is off the squad. Not only has he been a BEAST on the defensive side of the ball, but he's been a more effective offensive player. He even got his FG% up to 41% now, along with shooting an awesome 42% from behind the arc, that's pretty good for a player that jacks up 5 a game.

Since McLazy left:

Code: Select all

FG    3PT REB  AST   STL    PPG
.583   .429   3   4   1   19
.500   .286   1   2   0   18
.375   .500   7   4   3   17
.600   .714   7   4   2   26
.385   .500   5   5   3   21
.333   .500   4   3   1   15
.542   .500   6   1   3   32
.667   .750   4   2   1   23
