I think I am going to put in a vote for Bill Sharman here. On the downside, he only coached 10 years. On the upside, his players speak well of him and he won titles in both the ABA and the NBA. Going to have to go with Hannum soon, added KC Jones to the list although he never impressed me that much, still .643 winning percentage despite time with the Bullets is impressive . . .

Longevity . . . Nelson, Wilkens, or Sloan . . . anyone want to do a comparisom of the three?

Between Hannum or Sharman for me. I'll throw my vote to Sharman, but can be swayed.

Anyone know why Sharman quit coaching? I know Hannum had problems with people despite his success; don't remember any stories about Sharman but few coaches with his success quit after 10 years.

Didn't he go onto become the Lakers GM after he quit coaching? The Lakers being pretty crappy after West's retirement and mediocre in Kareem's first season there probably had something to do with it as well.

Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?

Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.

Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

Doug Moe to me is a lot like D'Antoni.

High octane offense that looks good, but doesn't get the job done.

Both great coaches and basketball minds, but I still think a coach like Sloan is more deserving.

Vote: Sloan.

Edit: Are we considering ABA accomplishments? Because that changes a lot for me. I personally have been ignoring any games coached in the ABA because the title is 20 greatest NBA coaches...
