Shaq...Honestly there's no way to really know these things unless you actually witness these guys in a max lifting competition..It could be someone you never heard of cuz he sucked ass as a basketball player but when it came to weightlifting he was the king..

Don't really care about who can lift the most weights or whatever. Shaq is the most functionally strong for the game of basketball.

If I had to guess, in terms of functional strength:

1. Shaq
2. Wilt
3. Gilmore

Then some mix of the two Malones, Hakeem, and Barkley. Robinson and Howard don't make the cut, even though they're well defined, because I don't think they have the functional strength.

It is probably Shaq. Yao Ming also deserves consideration.

Ben Wallace,D-Rob and D.Howard could take Mourning and the Mailman.

This should be Shaq with Wilt a close second.

So we're on a first name basis with Dwight Howard now? He gets "Dwight" in the poll but guys like Karl Malone and Charles Barkely need to have their full names in it so we know who you're talking about?

Wilt he was benching over 300 in his 50's

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Now I know why you have an "ASS" as your signature.

I dont know about lifting weights strength but when it comes to using his strength to gain advantage is definitely shaq. people dont realize shaq's size is not because he is fat he is just built bulky. bulky as in muscle not much fat. he was only 11% fat in 2006.

I don't know if Shaq is the strongest player of all time. He's certainly the player most capable of backing someone down.

Kobe said Dwight is the strongest player he had ever played against.

Shaq is 1st, after that I'd put Moses Malone over Karl. Karl was more ripped upper body, but Moses had a wider frame and build, he looks like a world's strongest man competitor. I'd put Shaq and Moses over Wilt too for that same reason, the lower body strength and core. Shaq and Moses also probably used their strength the most of all these guys

Wilt had a very wide frame himself. Just because Wilt had skinnier legs doesn't mean they weren't stronger...he was, after all, a track star and he had the best endurance out of anyone who has ever played in this league.

Strength and weight lifting are COMPLETELY different.
