he improved defensively, which can be attributed to work ethic, experience, coach....

offensively, he became more efficient due to having another good player on his team, which is exactly why kobe also improved his efficiency........

Anyone who plays with Kobe jumps like 20 spots in rankings. He might be on the cusp of top 10 thanks to Kobe Bryant.

Oh, he has a great supporting cast. That isn't to say there were teams out there equal in talent. I thought Boston if healthy were able to keep up with LA, and Denver clearly had a shot but inexperience on the side of Carmelo I think let them down. The Lakers have some really good pieces but they've been dubbed as if Bryant is playing along side out-of-this-league-talented players. I can see why one would want to discredit Bryant seeing as he does have four rings now, but being realistic. The Lakers outside of Bryant are no more talented then any past championship team.

Gasol is around 12th to 14th. You'd need a very compelling argument if you want to put him in the top 10.

Gasol would be top15 for me. He is a phenomenal player hella constistent and when he's focused is a pretty good defender. I love his offensive skillset although from time to time he becomes timid and differs to Kobe.

That may seem like an over the top statement, but in reality, it's closer to the truth despite what others may think.

Duncan and KG still have a greater impact on defense, but in my mind, Gasol's incredible efficiency on offense has closed the gap to the point where I find the differences in each player's respective games to be negligible. Right now, Pau is entering his prime and he could definitely become the league's best PF as soon as next year.

Why not? Gasol is better than Melo just because of his bball iq imo. He is such a smart player. You rarely if ever say what was Gasol thinking when taking the shot or making that pass. However with Melo, your left scratching you head when he takes horrible jump shots and has trouble scoring against weak defenses. Dont get me wrong Melo is more talented, but Gasol is the better player. He is more consistent and plays better D as well.
