Who was better? '06 Mavs or '09 Magic?

Mavs went 60-22 and the Magic went 59-23

Oh, God. Orlando by far. The Mav's choked away those finals. If they faced Orlando, they would do the same.

I'd go with Orlando. Lewis, Hedo, and Pietrus are the types of players you want to defend Dirk with. Howard might have some trouble with Dampier because of his strength, but Dallas doesn't have the defenders to help out on Dwight without getting burned from 3. Single-covered, this won't be like Perkins vs. Howard. Perkins can cover Dwight. I don't think Dampier can.

Also, the Magic can cover the Dirk-Terry pick-n-roll decently. I'd go with Orlando in a very tough, exciting 6-game series.

No way Kobe scores 62 on the Magic and outscores their entire team like he did to the Mavs.

This is the Magic by far.

hmmm it's close imo

magic; team is more balanced, plays better defense, better rebounding team

mavericks; better offense/ 1st option is more consistent, more experienced, better bench

dampier <<<howard

nowitzki>> lewis

howard = hedo

stackhouse> lee

harris= nelson

bench goes to dallas

terry, daniels, vanhorn, diop >> pietrus, redick, gorat

Both superstars choked their teams chances away in the Finals at the FT line.

If Dallas got the ref treatment that Orlando got (18 FT's to 0 for the Lakers through the 3rd/4th Q of Game 4), then they probably go on to beat he Heat. They were at a disadvantage and still found a way to make games close, while Orlando had an advantage and still found a way to blow it.

I'll go with Dallas.

They are different but not totally different. My point still stands. The Magic were a far better defensive team than the Mavs. As you point out, the playoffs are different, you know, where they playoffs are all about defense.

They are different but not totally different. My point still stands. The Magic were a far better defensive team than the Mavs. As you point out, the playoffs are different, you know, where they playoffs are all about defense.

Mavs had HCA when they played, the Magic didn't.

Whose is to say that if the 09 Magic played in the western conference in 06 that they wouldn't have HCA also?

Here is one point of view I look at, I think if the 09 Magic played in the west in 06, they would still have a good shot at the finals. I can't say the same thing about the 06 Mavs if they played in the east in 09. I think the 09 Celtics and 09 Cavs would beat that 06 Mavs team.

Would Orlando had beaten the Spurs?

The Mavs would have beaten an injury riddled Celtics team. Not sure if they could hang with the Cavs though.
