Replace 1998-1999 Paul Pierce with a 1999-2000 Kobe Bryant

Post#1 » by NeilsCeltics » Thu Sep 3, 2009 10:47 pm

If you replaced the 1998-1999 21 year old Paul Pierce with a 1999-2001 21 year old Kobe Bryant in the Celtics, how would the 21 year old Kobe Bryant do? Will he lift his team to a winning organization, winning records, and a championship much earlier than Pierce did?

Considering that was Phil's first year in LA and if Kobe goes to Boston, he didn't develop as good.

Well, yeah. The kind of development that Kobe had under Phil Jackson is priceless. But, your biggest knock on Kobe is that he had everything on a silver platter. Imagine if Kobe had to "work" for his "superstardom" and his "championships"? The reason why Paul Pierce is not good as Kobe is because when he was the Number 1 or 1B option in the Celtics teams of the decade, he never became part of the "elite", nor "dominated", nor obtain insane stats and accolades like Kobe Bryant did.

He wouldnt had been as good as the reason he improved is that Phil told him to watch tapes of MJ and gave him pointers on what MJ did.

Well, if that's the case, then can we safely say that the Celtics team would be a lottery team, especially with the totally horrendous front office, under Kobe Bryant's leadership?

The first few years Antoine was there so they could make the playoffs.
