That's my take, too. They're about even if Kobe retires today. Both elite talents, Kobe has four rings but three were with Shaq. One or two more I have to give him the edge.

I do full re-evaluations after every post-season. As of last post-season, I still had Hakeem ahead but it was close. I can certainly see Kobe passing Hakeem up if he plays well enough from now until June, but it's not a given.

So Duncan is irrefutably better than Bryant, but it is a question whether or not Bryant has surpassed Hakeem?
Color me confused. Hakeem was a better jumpshooter than Duncan, had better footwork than Duncan, was more athletic than Duncan, is a better volume and playoff scorer than Duncan, played against better frontcourt competition than Duncan, was a better team defender than Duncan, and probably a worse post defender, worse passer out of the post EARLY in his career, and that's about all I can think of. It really isn't even a question, Dream would abuse Timmy one on one, just like he did bigger, more athletic defenders than Duncan (Ewing, Robins, Shaq).
I've got Hakeem in the 5-7 GOAT range with Magic and Bird. I've got Duncan and Bryant still below that.

Yea I dont think Bryant is even in this tier of players with Duncan/Jordan/Dream/Shaq.

I have Kobe at 11-15. His career accomplishments are higher than his level of impact, so he could go higher if you're leaning towards team accomplishments and accolades.
Hakeem's probably in the low top 10 for me. Kobe may have a better career, but I highly doubt he'll ever be any better than prime Hakeem.

It's close, and more team success will put him over the top- and I expect he'll have that. Right now, though? Ehh, I don't think so.

Realgm, where Kobe becomes the most overrated player of all time. Kobe's peak doesnt stack up to Hakeem's peak. He can never pass Hakeem. The teams Hakeem won with had no where near the talent level Kobe's title teams have had. Personally I dont think Kobe can get higher than the 10th spot all time, his career has practically been written, we have already seen the best Kobe can offer.

Kobe has a higher peak PER than Hakeem. He's also more efficient in terms of TS%. I don't why people on this forum overrate Hakeem so. It's okay to pick Hakeem but lol @ fools acting like it's not even close.

Hakeem and it's not close even when you factor in career accomplishments. Hakeem was an actual defensive anchor who won 2 DPOY awards in a much more defensive minded league. Both have one MVP, but Hakeem won it in a tougher field of candidates. Kobe has more rings overall, but less as a first option and has one Finals MVP to Hakeem's two. Not only that, Kobe is not the playoff performer that Hakeem is. Kobe's postseason performance dips whereas Hakeem excels. There's virtually no reason to choose Kobe in this debate.

Hakeem was the better player. Kobe has the better career.

Hakeem had one of the best primes ever imo. In their primes Hakeem tops Kobe but Kobe will soon surpass him in overall career rankings. Both player belong to All Time Top 10 list.
