Hawks improved on defense, but struggling to score

Not a fan of Nate's offense!

Yeah. Even when we rank in the top of offensive efficiency, it still feels like that's more a result of Trae being elite than some great offensive system.

Nate is a solid manager of players and defensive coordinator, but this team is built for offense and his schemes aren't very innovative.

(Just think. If we're a top-10 offense utilizing an outdated offensive philosophy, imagine what we can do in a modern, high-flying offense.)

Nate has already mentioned not using analytics regarding 3 pt shooting. It will be our doom.
I railed against this whole mid-range shots and attacking mismatches in the early part of last season as well - now here we are, AGAIN. There is nothing imaginative and intuitive about Nate's offense.

If you going to be a midrange team you need to take more of them and hit at a higher percentage. We aren't getting to the free throw line except Trae.

People want Trae offball? AND I JUST DON'T MEAN FOR HIM TO RELOCATE WHEN HE GIVES UP THE BALL WHICH HE DEFINITELY HAS TO DO ? Trae off ball has been about Murray ISO dribble. No player or ball movement by ANYONE!

I expected to see some very specific sets to put Trae in CnS opportunities off ball. And this isn't about running him like Curry, he isn't that, but if you want him truly off ball and not just someone else bringing the ball upcourt just to give it back to him. Run an actual play with a screen, back screens, what angle is he going to come off screens, how tight will he come off a screen, INTENTIONALLY AND PURPOSEFULLY screen him open and get him in scoring position.

For that to happen, you have to have that play in your book, since it's about timing and positioning of the screens, who is the screener, how many screens, and who is getting him the ball. This is Nate's Play Book:

The offense has improved of late, even under Nate.

Our defense has not been good recently.

Our players, 2-5 (DJ, DH, JC, CC) have been struggling on defense and have not made up for it offensively.

Imagine that Trae is the one trending up on defense while maintaining his offense.

I said a few games ago, if Trae was playing the kind of defense he has been playing and the effort he is giving, I wanted to see our so called DEFENSIVE PLAYERS do more. They have no excuse.

DJ has struggled offensively over the last 5 games, not sure what's going on, but his prior 20+ games were not so much of an issue.

Hunter.......still waiting for the next step. He's been solid, not spectacular, lacking that ONE skill that will set him apart.

Collins sacrificed and remade his game when CC joined, now he's having to do it again with Murray. That Finger has been his downfall along with his rebounding numbers (yikes).

CC is like Bogi - struggles at what makes him special with any kind of injury.

But there's a difference between Clint and Bogi: the team seems to play better with Bogi now that Snyder is coaching (+9 Net rating), but they are really bad with Clint (-13 Net rating)
