Now that the euphoria has worn off, looking back at the offensive possessions in the last 3+ minutes...

OY. Lots of room for improvement.

Respect to Trae, Collins and the rest of the Hawks for a great come from behind, elimination road playoff win!

This games just goes to show that production from the PF spot is important and effective for the Hawks and how it opens things up for Trae.

Collins is still trash! I hope he can keep proving me wrong...

With Playoff Trae back, suddenly all things seem possible for Hawks

This was the kind of game that smothers all the criticism of Trae Young, the whispers that maybe the Hawks should trade him, the battles with his two first head coaches, the anonymous player polls that label him the most overrated player in the NBA. Because few players can do what he just did — own moments like this, against odds like this, on a stage like this.

Young took over a game that nobody thought the Hawks would win...It’s fair to praise Quin Snyder’s coaching, and important contributions from John Collins and others, and the Hawks’ resilience down in a playoff series 3-1 and winning on a potential elimination game on the road, despite missing the suspended Dejounte Murray. But mostly, this was about Young.

Young played more than 44 minutes. He never tired. He didn’t want to come out of the game in the second half. That wasn’t Snyder’s plan but at some point keeping him seemed like the right thing in a close game and, Young said, “I told him I felt good enough to play.”

Young noted the Hawks are “still one game from elimination.” But one Playoff Trae game and one upset later, the task of coming back in this series doesn’t seem quite as daunting.

During a timeout seconds before Young's shot, Hawks coach Quin Snyder looked at his guard and had a message: He wanted the ball in Young's hands, but a deep 3 wasn't the first plan of attack.

"I told him to try to get to the rim if you can," Snyder said. "But if you have space, just seize it and make a play. We all believe in you."

After Hawks forward Saddiq Bey inbounded into the backcourt, Young began scanning Boston's defense. Jaylen Brown, the Celtics' 6-foot-6 wing, was there, and with every step Young took past the half-court line, he noticed something important.

Brown kept backing up.

"They didn't need three; they only needed one [to tie]," Brown said. "Trae Young is pretty shifty going to his right hand, so that's what I was looking to take away."

Once Young recognized Brown was bracing for a drive, he made the call.

"I just had to trust in what I've done my whole life," Young said, "and that was to shoot with confidence."
