As long as he's traded without the extension, he is no longer eligible for the Super Max.

 Wait.... are you really confused or just pulling my leg?
Super maxes are only given by teams that drafted the players.

What are the criteria for a player to be eligible for a Supermax?

The NBA supermax eligibility is as follows: First, only a player that has at least seven years of experience in the NBA by the end of his current contract is eligible to sign a supermax deal. This can be offered by the team that drafted him or acquired his rookie contract via trade.

Second, a player must meet at least one of the supermax performance criteria:

Be named to an All-NBA team in the most recent season or two in the last three seasons.Be named Defensive Player of the Year in the most recent season or two in the last three seasons.Be named MVP in any of the three previous seasons.

So of traded prior to extension, he'd be eligible for the 30% max based on years of service and not 35% Designated Vet Super Max.

For me, personally: The $50+ million and it is not even close. But then again my perspective is that I don't care about living in Miami and winning a title does nothing truly for me. I can do a lot with an extra 15 million per year.

I will balance the answers: I take the 35M and there's zero chance for the 50M :D

Jaylen Brown is eligible for a supermax extension worth $270 million over five years with the Boston Celtics this offseason, but no deal has been reached so far this offseason.

"The side are talking," said Brian Windhorst on Sports Center. "This is obviously a very important, fragile deal. I know that there's interest in both sides to get something done. I would expect it to head in that direction.

"The one thing to point out: if Jaylen Brown gets extended on this deal for a year. For any deal at all. He cannot be traded for a year. For any deal at all. He's prohibited from being traded. So the Celtics probably want to make sure all their business is locked down before going into this."

Windhorst was asked to explain why he described the situation as "fragile."

"I think it will get done, but he's eligible for up to 35 percent of the salary cap, but he doesn't have to get that. The Celtics can negotiate on that. They can negotiate on the player option. They can negotiate on several things... There's aspect within the deal you have to negotiate."

Brown is one of my favorite players, but that's just way too much. I get you can't let him walk, but the Celtics just screwed their salary cap for the foreseeable future. That contract is close to untradeable, too.

I can't see anyway he finishes that contract out in Boston.

But I seriously hope my favorite team doesn't acquire him. $60 million annually for a third tier player is a ridiculous overpay.

Good for us, unless for people wanting ATL to trade for him. But one more team with potential payroll problem is good news.
