Is it though? Or are they targeting the players said to be most available?
We don't know which other players they may have called and asked about and the answer from the other team is 'no interest in trading our player'

Jay, did I say "I'm sure they are doing..." or "it looks like" ?
From the Murray trade, they have mainly traded for an All Star and to lower the payroll, with the exception of Bey, no move like getting Bamba who signed with PHI for the minimum for example. Yes, it's possible they tried, but what I see since one year looks like moves to absolutely stay under the Tax and trying to get a "big 3" at the same time.
..
:D
Talent wins, if you are giving up picks/assets, you want higher end talent/stars to fit with the one star you already have. Guys like Bamba are to round out your bench not your initial focus.

Say we get Siakam. I guess you have to say that we have a big three with he, Trae and Murry, but after giving up too much to get him those three aint taking us anywhere... and then Siakam gets paid, gets old and the athleticism disappears and he's a terrible contract

Would you rather add Siakam or KAT to this team if the trade pieces are about the same?

Never said Bamba should be the initial focus, they decided to pick some initial targets, but as it takes time and they are not even sure to conclude anything, why not signing a bench option instead of letting another team doing it for a minimum contract?
He's a young guy with ability to spread the floor

Same salary for this coming season, but at least KAT is already signed for the following years and can't be a one year rental, and as they were lacking shooting and spacing, I would go with KAT

Can someone please explain to me the trading of two recent FRP (Garuba, Tyty) and a SRP for Patty Mills?

I REALLY don't get / like it

That's the million dollar question. We were already over the max number of players, so someone would have had to be cut.

The only other explanation is the financial flexibility in getting off of Rudy Gay's contract.

There's a possible reason, and I hope it will be the one in case of a future trade:
they would have discussed a potential trade for which the other team wants a veteran PG among the players coming from ATL

Mills was acquired on July 12th, so he can't be traded aggregated with other Hawks players before September 12th (two months waiting period).

The thing I hope is that if they have a trade coming in September, it would be with Mills and not with Bogi (signed extension on March 16th and have a 6 months waiting period, so September 16th)
I have faith in Korver (not the other ones, at least at this moment) to not trade Bogi, he's on a bargain contract and he's so much important to this team

One more reason to not trade Bogi (added to him having the best Net rating difference of the team in the last playoffs):

Even if we have an opportunity to get a great player, they have to try all they can to keep Bogi, he's the kind of guy you need in a contender roster, especially at this price, and if his injury has been treated well this time, he'll be just perfect.

If we move forward with a consolidation trade, I hope we take a waiver on TyTy and especially Garuba at Forward.

Usman could be a useful defensive weapon come playoff time...
