I think the 3 point issue is more related to Nate using him as a 'stretch 4'. That is not playing to his strengths. Get him involved early going to the rim and post so he can get in a rhythm to step out and shoot the 3 in rhythm. Having him camped at the 3 point line without involved in any other action is counterproductive.

A few questions and your time:

1.) Can Collins play any small-ball C?
2.) Assuming the Raptors decide to rebuild, would you guys have any interest in a Siakam for Collins+ swap? Or are you guys higher on Collins these days? Or would you have more interest in a trade for OG?

Yes to both...

I don't know too much about Siakam or OG, but both seem ok. I would lean more towards OG because Hawks and Trae could use a SF more than a PF.

I'm wanting to see the young talent more. I expect John Collins to eventually be moved for a bad contract and a second round pick or two.

Jalen deserves more minutes but have issues providing our 4's with an adequate amount of field goal attempts.

I would love to see Jalen Johnson play Point Center, similar to Draymond Green with the Warriors. Try a 5 out line up of Trae, AJ, De'Andre, Siddaq and Jalen. Trae and Jalen could run the pick and roll with AJ, De'Andre and Siddaq spread around the 3 point line. This surely would be a high scoring offense. On the defensive end, this unit might struggle, but Jalen has been around league average defensively by advanced metrics and averaged nearly 10 rebounds/gm per 36 minutes. Siddaq has the body and strength to defend 4's but has to put forth maximum effort. Perhaps this offense could outscore opponents the way Steve Nash and the Suns did.

I'm definitely in favor of trying Jalen as a point forward a la Draymond. Also, push the pace. ALOT. JJ is at his best grabbing the rebound and immediately pushing the ball in transition. He seems to do this more with DeJounte on the court than with Trae nearby...

Are you thinking this would be a starting 5 or just a group we simply runout regularly in 2nd and 3rd Quarters?

This requires Nate to think outside the box.
I love when JJ grabs a rebound and go. We spend too much time playing against a set defense. That's why I wished Hunter was a better rebounder and ball handler to push the pace. Trae always coming back for the ball after a Capela rebound allows the other team to set their defense.

JJ has looked impressive of late and will only get better with more PT. I hope we aren't placing too much on him too soon into his development.

I believe you're correct. $25.3 million next season and $26.5 million the next. I'm not expecting much in return for Collins.

I hope JJ does workout due to what we invested in him. Our high lottery picks aren't looking like star talents.

Will Johnson put up the numbers that John Collins did if he had 14.8 field goal attempts per game?

21.6ppg
58% shooting
40% from three
1.8 blocks per game

Because John Collins did that at 22 years old.

Jalen Johnson will be 22 years old in December.

That's during a time when all young players were encouraged to play. Given the opportunity JJ would've developed in the same circumstances. One could ask the question will JJ beat JC's stats at age 25... Personally I'd want to upgrade from both guys and only way seems to be via draft.
