This guy goes to the three point line and only knows how to miss.

1 for 12

How does he look? He was always a very intriguing prospect for me with his size and fluidity

His offense needs to consist of mid range jumpers or attack the rim. I do like how mobile he is. He should receive more time on the court if he stops the three point shooting.

The reactions in Hawks Twitter to this Mo Gueye explosion have been...ridiculous.

I do believe the vision for Gueye is as Serge Ibaka style of player: Rim protection and 3-pt shooting.

A part of me even wonders if a small part of us passing on Alex Sarr was that he is so similar to Mo Gueye.

I can call myself a MG guy, had him up there with the Hawks younger players ranked. But he went off against a Giannis less Bucks team, the guy he would've been matched against...

He just needs to gain strength and mass in that frame. Hawks have guys with that wiry frame in Vit, Zac, Gueye, etc. Those guys have ability but need some girth on those bones above everything else, pause.

This guy has some of the worst shot selection I've seen. Guy thinks he's KD or something.

I have a theory/observation.

  • Mo Gueye has only been playing organized basketball for like 5+ years.
  • Our coaching staff is always telling guys in general (and Mo specifically) to be aggressive in hunting your shot and taking threes.
  • Mo doesn't fully understand how to be aggressive offensively within the flow of the game.
  • Mo 1) looks to be aggressive 2)takes terrible shots 3)turns the ball over and 4) just generally looks like a buffoon.
  • Hawks and Mo Gueye go back to the drawing board.

Even going back to Summer League. Once Kobe, Zacch and Djurisic were removed from the lineup, the kid would refuse to pass the ball and just look terrible in the process.
Mo needs tighter reins at this point in his development...not a green light to shoot.

He has a player option the next two years.
I hope he tightens up like OO had too.

Not player options, but Team options.

This is what Mo Gueye should be limited to for the time being.

Young, gaining experience. Still needs to learn. Has talent. Has size. (We need size). A not too expensive keeper!
