memphis choked big time but still hit a 3 to tie with 10 seconds left. See if they can hang on. Given their D probably not.
They gave up a layup to Lebron on an inbounds play with only 1 second left on the clock a minute ago.
by the end of the season there is no way we will have a better record than Cleveland. They were the finalists last year.
Looks like OT.

OT indeed.
Anyway, it's another good win for the Hawks and I'm not going to exclaim how bad they are at boxing out (20 OR's are bad, man). Well, at least they make up for it on their shooting percentage... Hells yeah! 51% from the field.
And I still get scared whenever they start the 2nd half. It's like an incoming meltdown is inevitable. I hate that feeling...

And, kudos to gsuteke for making the game thread entertaining than ever. Wow, that Cleveland-Atlanta game thread was the best.

Who would you prefer to play between Boston and Detroit? I'm leaning toward Detroit due to the matchups.
I know, I was thinking about that the other day. I really don't know, they are both great defensive teams. Detroit just completely owns us this year (although we could've beaten them the first game), and Boston blew us out in the only game we played them. I'd probably lean towards Detroit, but I really hope we can get the 6th seed so we don't have to worry about it.

I have no problem with JJ not scoring much in the 2nd half tonight. He played okay.
And J.R. Smith is freaking insane.
I honestly didn't notice Joe much in the 2nd half and I thought it was because he was on the bench (and I got something to eat during half time and missed some of the 3rd), but if he really played as much as the stats say there's a problem when you score only 2 points with 0 assists and 0 rebounds. That can't happen. But at least he was ridiculous in the first half to give us a nice cushion.
As far as HMFFL's question, I'd honestly rather play Boston. I don't think we could beat either of them in a series, but I think we could take 1 or 2 from Boston. Who knows with the way they're playing right now.

I'm with you usually on that NDa, no one on this board has been more critical of JJ than me. But having been at the game I didn't realize he had dissapeared statistically, he was still having a solid effect and we had a substantial lead so we didn't need him to take over.
I wanted to add how embarrassing the crowd was tonight. So many Nugs fans just becase they prefer A.I. to the Hawks. I hope we can have some success and turn these people back.

It was a good sized crowd, but you're right it was filled with a lot of Denver-sympathizers. Made for a quiet setting for a lot of the game.
I'm still hopeful that we can play our way into the 5/4 matchup. If we can get through the first round (big if) then I would welcome a matchup with Boston more than Detroit. I don't like our chances in either series, but I think playing Boston would get more media exposure. A matchup against Detroit would be relegated to lesser coverage. A playoff stage can create stars and draw in new and/or casual fans. Packed houses can help to convince ownership to increase investment.

I don't think the Hawks have anyone who can match up with either Iverson or Melo. (on the other side JJ is a very tough matchup for Denver as well) I just think that Iverson is going to spend all game penetrating at will. Denver's defense is based on not giving up many FT attempts and letting teams try and hurt them with 3 pointers. The Hawks rely on getting to the line and are a lousy 3 point shooting team. The Hawks don't look for offense from Horford which will let Camby roam around on defense all he wants to. And the Hawks front line players aren't any more atheltic than the opposing front line for once. This just seems like a brutal matchup for the Hawks overall. So yeah- I just bet money against the Hawks for tonight.
So much you know about anything Killbuckner!! LOL. Denver has ZERO defense so not sure what you were even talking about here as if they try to make teams shoot 3's against them. That is a joke! We dominated every facet of the game offensively against Denver.

Hey- I come out and say when I think the Hawks have a good matchup and I say when I think they ahve a bad one. This time I thought that Iverson would absolutely torch them like Parker and TJ ford have done in earlier games. Though I wouldn't have bet the game if I had known Kmart wouldn't play. Starting Najera changes the Nuggets an absolute ton.
Gutz- if you want to save up your allowance and start betting against me then let me know- I will be more than happy to put my knowledge of basketball up against yours. I have won a lot of money on the Hawks this season overall both betting on them and against them- I am more than happy to admit when I am wrong about a game.

As far as denver's defense- there was an interesting article a while ago. They have gotten hit harder by injuries so their rankings aren't so good but I thought it was a really interesting article.

Oh please Killbuckner!! You think you know everything but you actually are just a joke. You actually think Kenyon Martin would have made a huge difference in this game? That's laughable! Martin hasn't even played all that much and his numbers suck. We still would have killed them. Why do you even post on this board when your not even a Hawks fan? Just go away with your garbage and ego please! And i will bet against you any night of the week on games.

Gutz- I post here because I live in atlanta and watch the Hawks the most of any teams. I have also won a lot of money betting on the hawks this season. I have enough confidence in my views on the Hawks to put money on them. And if you go back and look over the last several years my judgement about the Hawks have been far more accurate than the general consensus on here. So go ahead and come out in the game threads and say which Hawks games you think they will cover. (the fact that there probably won't be many if any games you don't think that they will cover should tell you a ton about how much of a homer you are) I have always been more than happy to give my opinions up front beforehand. Lots of times my analysis looks really good in retrospect so I am fine to admit it the times I am wrong. Of course winning money on the Hawks makes it awfully easy to laugh at you when you come on here spouting nonsense like this.
And if you don't think there is a big difference between Kmart and Najera then I don't know what to tell you. Kmart has been very good this season and played 35 and 38 minutes the past 2 games for Denver. Hell yes it would change my opinion of the game for Denver to go from a quality starter at PF to a guy who is absolutely terrible.

KillB, you can bet on games all you want, I could care less if you win money gambling on the NBA. Good for you if thats what you need to hear to satisfy your EGO. And no I would not say the Hawks would cover every game they play as that is ridiculous especially when your putting money on it.
Oh so Kmart averaging 9pts and 6rb a game is very good to you when Najera is averagin 6pts and 5rb? Not too much of a drop off there but of course Kmart is better than Najera but it's pretty clear Kmart is NOWHERE near the player he used to be some years ago. Hawks still would of won last night's game regardless. Now having both Nene and Martin back would have been a different story but i still think we would of won. Back to back game is what hurt Denver last night as I was there and saw them. They looked uninterested and tired in the first half. BTW I have season tickets to the Hawks unlike you. FYI last nights game wasn't even on TV.
