Calderon isn't going anywhere. The Raptors will draft a PG, then trade TJ Ford to Sacramento.

Would they match a starting salary of 10M? I can't see going any higher than that to try and pry him away given the overall cap situation.

I can't think of an offer the Raptors wouldn't match. They would probably trade Ford though.

The raps already have a pg prospect, his name is Roko Leni Ukic, rumours has it that a buyout is complete and he will join them next yr

Yeah, we worry about whether he can be a full backup or not. I'm sure what will happen is that we sign calderon, let them play next year, and then deal ford once he proves he can be healthy for a little while.

Calderon won't leave Toronto, even said he'll take less money. We'll see about that...

Raps Fan:

If theres one thing about Colangelo it's that he love PG's...Nash, Kidd, Starberry, TJ, Jose...he's said numerous times he's keeping Jose...but if something were to happen, you guys are def. one team i would want to deal with (lots of young talent)

if jose ends up here, im adopting this team

Colangelo has emphatically stated that he intends to keep Calderon as a raptor for a long time...I just wanted to follow out some of these other misconceptions.

- Calderon doesn't lose salary as tax to the Canadian Government....it has something to do with the regulations in Canada...he's not in the country long enough.

- At one point, Calderon for Marvin was looking like an interesting prospect but right now, there is no way I would trade Calderon for Marvin. However, I'd move Bargnani for Marvin in a flash (HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING!)

- Calderon is easily worth AT LEAST 8 million, no exaggeration....

- Paying a lot of money at the point spots is not a concern...if you actually compared the numbers between other teams PG's (backup and starting), you'd be surprised how close the values are.. if we were hypothetically willing to spend 20 milllion on two pg's. Keep in mind, 48 minutes of excellent point guard play does wonders for the team...I'm sure all raptor fans know how important Calderon or Ford are to the second unit (bench)..it's evident that the bench is lacking when either Calderon or Ford are not on the floor.

My 2 cents...

IMO, Colangelo has to be extremely confident that he is going to be able to resign Calderon this offseason. If that wasn't the case, Colangelo would probably have pulled on a Calderon trade by now in order to get something back. Calderon is an asset for the Raptors, and I'd be foolish for them to wait this long until the offseason and risk losing an asset for nothing, which is why I am 100% positive that Colangelo will match any offer and keep Calderon in Toronto.

The responses to Calderon in this thread pretty much says it all. Think about it, if you were the Raptors, would you honestly even think about letting Jose walk? Calderon is not only our second best player right now and still getting better, but he's a fan favorite in Toronto. He's turned into an untouchable and is our number one priority this off-season.

And no, we have no problem spending all that money on two point guards, maybe down the road something happens, but for the time being keeping our assets is an absolute necessity.

It's still nice to know that Calderon is getting so much love, he's finally getting the respect. But damn, Hollinger and company has raised his contract value! He's not under the radar anymore, at all.
