If I had known that I wouldn't have been as high on Zaza as I was in 06.

That still doesn't really change the point...How did he get so bad over the summer? He was considered to be a quality NBA rotation player(better suited as a backup) and average among starting centers last year. He has been worse than Lo Wright this year. He has gone from our best big man(which isn't saying much) to our 4th or 5th best big man in less than a year.

Hawks get owned again. The team has now lost 8 out of their last 11 games.

Yup. This a playoff team to be sure. When they get killed on this west coast swing it will end all doubt that this team is finished and was always a pretender. If it wasn't for a FLUKE of a 5 game winning streak it would done
be over.

Hey guys great game. Just wanted to say that you guys are probably one of the, if not the, classiest boards on this site. I love the Hawks. definitely my east coast favorite team.

My question to you guys is that im assuming, although might be wrong, that Horford is eventually going to be moved to PF at some point in the next couple of years. Obviously that all hinges on you guys getting a legit center to step in, but if that happens, who is the odd man out? Does Smoove move to the SF spot and Williams is out? Or is Smoove eventually going to be sent packing? (I would hope not).. Or is Horford just going to have to adapt and be the Center of this teams future?

Good luck the rest of the way, and see you this weekend.. Im pulling for you guys to get to the playoffs!

Right now Horford is the second best 4 on the roster and probably remain so indefinitely. Smith didn't have a good game today but he is averaging twice as many points and is at the top of the league in blocks.

I think the Hawks should get a center with size who can play D(like Prz). Then they can split Horford's time between the 4 and 5 depending on the matchups.

We were in the cellar with you guys not long ago. You had such a mess of a roster before Pritchard took over. He was like Houdini the way he completely overhauled your roster in such a short time.

Needless to say we are very jealous, both of your GM and of Roy and Aldridge. either one would have been a big help to us. Roy didn't have one of his best games today but I've seen him really go off a few times this year, especially late in games.

I don't think Horford will ever get moved to the 4 honestly. The team is and will be better with him at the 5. The team is and will be better with Smith at the 4. Thats just how it is.

Portland fan checking in. Great game today, my nerves were shot by the end.

I just wanted to say that Atlanta looks like a great team with a ton of potential. Joe Johnson is a stud, I already knew that from his time in Phoenix. But Josh Smith and Al Horford both look like stars. Smith is just ridiculous, and I couldn't believe how tough he was to stay in the game after that fall. I hadn't seen the Hawks play in years, and I think it's an absolute joke that teams like Miami and Cleveland get 15 games a year on national TV while you guys get nothing. The Hawks displayed far more teamwork and were much more fun to watch than either of those teams, by far.

Hopefully you can get into the playoffs, because with Johnson and Smith I think you could make some real noise.

^^^ I've got nothing but good things to say about Portland fans here. I remember when we beat them early in the season last year and it was kind of depressing on their boards but everyone was trying to stay upbeat and positive. It's good to see better times are coming back in Portland. Hopefully they will here too.

Portland wins OT battle with Hawks

"It was a contested shot," said Hawks forward Josh Smith, who had a hand in Outlaw's face on that final shot. "I wanted him to shoot the jumper instead of driving to the hole. He knocked it down. It was a great shot."

"Are you kidding me? Everybody on their team can make a jump shot and that includes their coaching staff," Marvin Williams said after his 4-for-13 shooting effort. "I'm surprised [Portland coach Nate McMillan] wasn't out there lacing them up. I mean, dude ... they didn't miss."

The Blazers' reserves outscored their Hawks counterparts a whopping 62-30, helping to snatch a rare home win away from the Hawks, who had won six of their last eight home games before Monday.

"Their bench was the difference," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "We talked about that coming into the game. And their bench is every bit as good as their starting unit. They showed that. They had 30-plus points in the first half and finished close to [62] for the game."

"Brandon was a little fatigued," McMillan said of his second-year star. "But Travis was having a great first half. He was able to get to the rim and score. We just needed to go to another option, and Travis was that option.

"He was the guy we wanted to take advantage of on the elbow. He did a nice job each time we gave him the ball, and he finished it for us at the end."

It should be noted that Smith had 11 defensive rebounds. Sometimes good signs come in losses.

Marvin had only 2 though. He needs to get his head in the game.

Don't tell Marvin, but we shot pretty poorly yesterday, and have for the last couple of weeks. Good game though by both teams. Good luck the rest of the way and in making the playoffs.
