Trade winds blowing?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Jan 24, 2008 11:30 pm

Silence speaks louder than words to me, especially when it comes to the NBA trade rumor mill. And since that thing churns with more misinformation than Hollywood gossip, now would be a perfect time for us to enter the fray with an item or two.

Why do people put stock in what that D-Bag Sucku Smith says? No credible source on a trade, but yet this makes the AJC

I'm not at all impressed with S. Smith either. His repoting is lame. He gets in to practices, he talks to coaches and management, but he never has anyhting to say.

When the Hawks were fueding early in the year; you can't tell me that you wouldn't have been able to see it on the practice court.

If there is a rift between coach and players, you don't think Smith had an opportunity to remark on it? What, it's not important?

No, it's the institutioalised shut up and do what your boss tells you.

Now, after being called out, by me and a very few others (non homers) he starts to step out a little. But, his articles still don't take a position or reveal anything that the average fan hasn't already been talking about for a long time. He doesn't even offer ANY professional or insider type info or slant.

The ajc sucks and Smith's reporting sucks.

Problem is, if he started reporting the truth of what he sees behind closed doors, or actually trying to put the pressure on, he'd surely get reprimanded by his boss's and shunned by Hawks management.

Look up Homerism in the dictionary and you will find a discription of what I'm talking about.

I really laughed at is "You want the truth, you can't...." blog.

He listed about 8 truths that we couldn't handle (thanks for breaking it to us gently great BLOG Z) and each and every truth that he listed has been discussed ad nauseum on his blog.

Actually Smith did report on the early season stuff quite a bit. We would have never known of the closed door meeting, gotten an insider take on the Smith fiasco in Detroit, and given us the scoop on AJ's suspension.

That being said, I don't like what he has done this year. But most people will tell you he is one of the better beat writers in the NBA.

Gasol would be a nice piece but to me the key is Lowry if we got those 2 players I think that Lowry would be just as if not more important to the Hawks and there run toward the playoffs.

And just because there are no sources quoted doesn't mean that sources don't exist.
VOTE Rod Strickland into the H.O.F.!!!

Return to Atlanta Hawks
