Childress/Lue/Lo Wright for Mike Miller
subtitute Shelden for Chillz if they want
The Hawks need a shooter in the worst way to pair with Joe. this trade will put Marvin on the bench as our 6th man playing 30 mins a game.
That could be the answer to our prayers Gentlemen.

I don't see them getting rid of Miller. He is a good shooter, and I don't think he adds that much to their cap. I think they keep him in spite of 3 years remaining at around $9M.
Not sure they can get better in return.

They could just renounce Chill, but it really defeats the purpose. Actually Memphis has an incentive to make another trade if they intend on dabbling in free agency this summer. By my calculations they'll be at 44.1M in salary next season before draft pick cap holds which will probably be around 5M letting Navarro walk. That's not enough to realistically go after any of the major free agents. Moving Miller and only bringing back a small contract + expirings (or all expirings) gives them enough room to be a free agency player.
Here's the problem, there is no indication that Memphis is will be in the market to sign free agents. They could be content to build slowly over a couple years with a low payroll adding top 5 picks to the roster to go with Gay and Conley. When Gay is ready for extension then Miller, Cardinal, and Darko are coming off the cap. Essentially it is the BK rebuilding model except they will probably draft better and by getting a PG early he'll be playoff ready when the rest of the roster starts being ready to compete. By their two trades today I get the feeling they aren't in a hurry to complete the turnaround.
My suggestion is go after Ron Artest instead.

In another thread HMFFL posted a link that they are indeed shopping Mike Miller. If they want expiring contracts we have those:
Ty Lue
Lo Wright
2009 2nd rounder
for
Mike Miller works in trade checker.
Salim Stoudamire
Shelden Williams
Lo Wright
for
Mike Miller works if they want a young player in return.
The offer need not include Childress if there is a concern about his cap hold. Childress could be dealt elsewhere for a different piece.

I'm not sure if Miller is the right guy we should be going after, but he certainly would make a difference. I have a feeling that MEM will want Chill back just to make up for losing him though. Miller might not be a star, but he's no slouch either. There's no way we get him for some of the deals suggested. It's going to take Chill, Lue, and Zaza/Wright IMO to make that deal happen. That gives them all short contracts and a potential building block or at S&T option. The Hawks can afford to give up those guys, but do they really want to? I'm not sure we can handle losing Zaza even though he hasn't been contributing much. We need the big bodies if we can even think about the playoffs. Chill would be missed, but I think Miller gives us a better shooting option and greater depth. He, JJ, and Marvin could take up the PT at 2/3 and provide a terrific scoring punch. I'd love to see them get Lowry out of the deal too because he'd help a ton at our weakest area (PG). This team might have a better chance of making the playoffs:
Lowry/AJ/Law
JJ/Miller/West/Salim
Marvin/Miller/JJ
Smoove/Marvin/Horford
Horford/Zaza/Sheldon/Solo
We might even see this lineup on the floor:
JJ
Miller
Marvin
Smoove
Horford
BK's dream come true!!
