With the league saying that the game will be played, regardless if Shaq is there is crazy!

They should award us with the win and give Miami there loss now...rather than going through the trouble of playing a do-over.

So is Marion allowed to play? What if the Hawks make a trade in the interim, would our new player be allowed to play? This is all so stupid.

As far as the team after the deal, what will it look like?

Williams
Wade
Marion
Haslem
Blount

with Banks, Quinn, Wright, Barron, and Davis doing the heavy lifting off the bench?

Riley has got to have some other moves in mind, right?

Imagine the ratings of a Suns - Lakers playoff series, that would be HUGE.

Well, the mistake was made so I guess the "game" should still be played, but no way should Marion be able to play.

reina said that the game was going to happen without shaq. it will be as if riley took him out the game following the fifth foul. marion nor banks will be able to play either. wither way the hawks should still finish them off. i'm looking to win two games on that night.

As huge a disappointment as Marcus Banks in PHX... poor kid had to get in there somehow, people keep forgetting about him.

This trade definitely makes Diaw more relevant.

Banks was just yet another bad contract on that Suns team. Now they can add Shaq to the mix of overpaid players on their team.

um i thought that, by league precedent, players acquired after the game in question can indeed play in the remainder of the game. for instance, there was a game in the 70's where the two teams in question actually made a trade with each other, and thus some players played for both teams in the course of one game. i am a hawks fan, and would love for marion and banks to be ruled out, but i don't see how the league could rule them out, given the past precedent.

The rules could have changed, maybe they exist now but didn't exist in the past. Just curious about what game that was, was it an NBA or an ABA game. Sounds pretty interesting.

There is no reason to create more Shaq threads so try to keep all the Shaq talk within this thread. Thank you

Well, when I posted this the other night while still in hot rumor phase I had no idea it would go 3 pages. I lament that the poll question was so easily one sided.

I don't know if any of you caught it late on NBA TV, but heck of game between New Orleans and the Matrix-free Suns. Great hustle rebound by Hill with a pass to Barbosa for a 3 to tie with 3.2 seconds in the 2 OT. Followed by Peja nailing a long 2 with a defender in his face, ball game 132-130. Impressive outing by Phoenix while being a man short, but unless Shaq somehow rediscovers health they could be a man short a lot of the time. Maybe the drier heat of the desert will help him over the humidity of South Florida.

As dumb as I think the Suns were for doing this, I can't help but hope it works. The Deisel has always been good for the league, friendly guy that gets out in the community. Grant Hill is one of those guys that could have been an all-timer if he didn't have that injury, you really want him to make up for it with a title. Nash, most of all, is the one I want to see win it, he and KG actually. One of the hardest working guys in the league, plays the point guard position as well as it can be played but people are constantly doubting him and discrediting his MVPs.

The legend of the Daddy would really grow if he could return to just a 16-9 low post monster and help push PHX over the top. I doubt it'll happen but I'm pulling for him.

I was just checking out some other boards and some people are wondering if Marion will be Pippen to D-Wade's MJ. Bit of a stretch, like when did D-Wade develop a reliable jump shot, but the Miami fan base seem giddy about their future.

Marion is a great player no doubt. He's very different from Pippen stylisitically though. I'm imagining he will be going back to his old role at SF for Miami. He'll be better on D, a great compliment to Wade in that capacity because he will always grab the opponent's best perimeter scorer. I wonder how they will play him on offense, I guess they will keep the ball in Wade's hands and let Marion work around off the ball, it'll take a lot of pressure off of Wade but it doesn't help Wade work around off the ball like Pippen did for Jordan. Wade+Marion+ Rose/Beasley would be a great lineup... super athletic.
