Minnesota Holds Our Pieces?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Feb 14, 2008 5:14 pm

Trade for Rashad McCants and our 3 point shooting drastically improves. Minnesota will also receive Bostons 2009 first round pick from the Kevin Garnett trade.

Maybe do a package that includes both Rashad McCants and Gerald Green and centers around Josh Childress on our side.

Josh Childress, Shelden Williams and a filler (Salim Stoudamire)

for

Rashad McCants, Gerald Green, Craig Smith and Michael Doleac (Makes the money work).

This trade provides us with two energy guys off the bench. We get 3 point shooting help, but we need to keep their minutes consistent, and we get the young talented Craig Smith.

I'm not a real big fan of McCants, but that is a very nice trade for us. Why would Minnesota do it though?

I mean if they are giving up McCants and Craig Smith, don't they at least try to make us take on 1 bad contract in the deal (like Buckner or Jaric)?

Childress, Shelden, Salim
for
McCants, Craig Smith, and Buckner also works in trade checker.

Buckner's deal is really 1 more year at 4M since the last 2 years aren't guaranteed.

Buckner could be fill the Childress role

I am thinking in more limited minutes of course. I would think that Buckner could help in half court situations. He has Zaza numbers that aren't too imposing, yet give you more than Lo is giving.

I haven't kept up with the McCants development. Is he having a problem staying on the court?

Is Gerald Green's best position the 3? I don't see him in a backup role here, because he feels like he should start for Minn.

They determined that they had no long term interest in Green early. He's only appeared in 29 games and is averaging 12 minutes with no starts. McCants has played in 45 games starting 24 to the tune of 27 minutes. Not sure how Foye's return will affect those numbers. Craig Smith has been in 50 games with 11 starts and is averaging 21 minutes.
