Shane Battier?

Post#1 » by randomhero423 » Sun Feb 17, 2008 4:29 am

Would you trade Marvin Williams for Shane Battier? He can be a tremendous asset as a role player, and add leadership to a young locker room.

A line up of:
PG: Mike Bibby
SG: Joe Johnson
SF: Josh Smith
PF: Shane Battier
C: Al Horford

is very scary in the east.

thoughts?

Shane Battier is one of my favorite Duke players ever, but no I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't even do the Chill deal because of the cap impact next year.

Marvin's upside is still too great to give up for Shane's D now. Furthermore, realistically we aren't competing for a title this year, we trying to get to the playoffs and stay for longer than just a cup of coffee. We'll see where the team and Marvin are respectively next trade deadline before he discussing tweak maneuvers.

I would NEVER do this trade, but..............

that would be a sick lineup. Defense, perimeter shooting, rebounding.
We'd be like Detroit. The sum would be greater than the parts.

Battier is a player that wouldn't be as valuable here as he is in Houston. His defense and basketball IQ are great, but he plays along T-Mac and Yao. That gives him a wide open 3 all the time, it'd be a different situation here. I'd pass on him. I still can't believe the Rocktes traded R. Gay right after the draft for him.

First of all, please realize that Josh Smith is our power forward. As much as I like Shane, I don't believe it's wise for Atlanta to make this type of trade, because Marvin's value will continue to rise.

rockets fan here, i dont think we would do that. he compliments yao and tmac well. even without battier, atlanta has a scary lineup. im surprised yall didnt have to give up much to get an all star pg. congrats and this should definitely make yall a playoff team.

I have a question since your a Houston fan.

What would it take for Atlanta to acquire Luther Head? Obviously, I want you to look past the Atlanta starters if it's possible.

^ that doesn't sound too bad, you bring in Hayes who can play the 3 or 4 and a 3 point shooter in Head.
