But wouldn't you all agree that even with Bibby, we are expected to lose those games? Getting Bibby makes us better, it does not mean we should be beating the SPurs or UTah, especially on the road. I'm just responding to the thread which somehow is saying that we are losing right now and that's on Bibby.

It's because we aren't good enough. In the East we are definetely a playoff team now, we are not on SA or Utah level.

Right. Bibby has been great considering he's injured and we've been on a tough road trip since he joined.

The guys are back home now and have a couple of pretty winnable games on deck.

Anyone remember the Warriors last season? They finished the season out 15-5 to get into the POs and carried that momentum into their first round upset... now that the offseason has passed, we can see that they were better than their 42-40 record even though they lost Richardson for basically nothing. Now I don't know if the Hawks + Bibby are better that the Warriors were but I think we can take advantage of an easy schedule and steamroll a bit.

The problem is going to be... well, not being the Hawks. This team seems to have a toughness problem. We have to be able to get through the Boston, GSW, NOH part of our sched without completely falling apart. If we can keep that from killing the psyche, we should easily win the majority of our games from here on out.

Good Lord, are we really talking about this? Bibby wasn't my first choice either and he's obviously not a pure point guard. Still though he has talent, he's still adjusting to the system, he's playing banged up and limping down the court, and Woodson has been a significant long-term problem with this team. So how do you even start to blame Bibby at this point? Atlanta fans are by no means unintelligent, but some of us are d@m_ sure the most impatient.

i have never been a Bibby fan, but now he is a Hawk i kinda have to be.... but if you look at Bibby's career, he has never been a guy that makes his team better.

he has always been a decent pg that doesn't lift his team to the next level. Griz where a bad team with and without Bibby. Kings where a good team way before Bibby got to SAC, and once all the talent left SAC, it is not like Bibby was a guy who keep the Kings respectable.

Bibby didn't make the Kings better? Those Western Conference Finals disagree with you.

Yeah, whats your point? He's not Steve Nash? Bibby is good enough. Sacto always ran their offense out of the high post to take advantage of Bibby's shooting. Before he went there he was near the top of the league in assists.

I've never been a fan of his either but you have to recognize game.

Bibby is definetely no all star anymore. But he is still a massive upgrade. He also has been a much better defender here than he was before (seemed like he was getting old and not hte defender he once was).

Most of all, he brings leadership, which we have lacked all year. We would have gotten blown out by Utah/SA normally and given up when we got down double digits. But just Bibby's presence has given us so much more confidence. I hope it starts to translate into better execution and victories soon.

that is the thing, i really hoped that his leadership would have stopped the Hawks blowing all those leads.

It's pretty silly of you to expect this team to suddenly improve with a banged up Bibby in the middle of a west trip. Wait until we get off the hardest part of our schedule, Bibby gets a bit healthier, Law gets back in the lineup, J-Rich gets more comfortable playing in the NBA, Salim gets used to some consistent minutes again, etc. Don't be so naive.

I can't say that enough myself. It's like people are hearing it though. I've never seen fans get an upgrade at their weakest position and then want to trade him inside of 5 games because he is banged up and hasn't magically made us a title contender. Just be patient guys. We should be having this conversation at the end of the season, not now.
