TJ Ford Likes the Hawks?

Post#1 » by The Red Army » Thu Apr 3, 2008 3:05 am

I'm a Toronto fan and even though tonights game was strange to say the least, this topic is not about that.

After the game TJ had some interesting comments about the Hawks.
He said: "I love this building," said Ford of Atlanta's arena. "I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the court. Maybe it's the rims. Maybe it's the people. Maybe it's the environment ... (The injury) happened. I recovered. It was just a chapter in my book. It's not the last chapter."

So would you guys be willing to trade for TJ and who would you be willing to give?

I like what i see from Marvin Williams and obviously toronto would love to have Josh smith, but TJ alone wouldnt be enough for straight up trade with smith IMO...

There have been a ton of threads on this. I love Ford and Calderon, but I think there was like a 15 page thread on this earlier this season and no one could find a legit scenario.

He was drafted by the Bucks with the Atl pick. As for trading for him. We have no need for him now with Bibby.

Personally I like TJ when he's healthy, but with another year on Mike Bibby's contract at 14+M, it is not feasible for us to trade for TJ unless it is Bibby in a salary dump move by Toronto like Bibby's expiring deal for TJ and Rasho's expiring deal. To be honest I would expect the team to want to see what we can do with a full season of Bibby and Joe in the backcourt, so I doubt if we're likely trade partners.

Phillips arena is actually one of the nicer arenas in HD and when there are people in the seats. It's actually one of the more unique arenas in the NBA as all the luxury suites are on one side.

As for Ford..I've said I would love to have him but it really wouldn't be possible because we traded for Bibby and he is under contract until the end of next year. The Hawks now need to focus on getting a center...even a guy like Rasho would really help the Hawks.

As has been said, there is not point in trading for Ford. We have Bibby so trading a wing which we need for another pg doesn't make much sense.

Not to mention his injury history where we could be trading a young developing player for a guy who is 1 hit away from retirement.

I think 90% of us have that guy blocked... don't sweat it.

I think Marv would be a great fit in T.O. to give you guys another scoring threat in the starting lineup and TJ would be a great fit in Atlanta with all the athletes we have but as the guys above mentioned, we have Bibby and his contract right now and it would really crowd things unless he was moved somewhere too.

Yep, I didn't even see a post until it got quoted. The world's a better place with the virtual ball gag placed on that guy.

Tor sends TJ, Rasho, 1st Rounder

LA sends Odom

ATL sends Bibby, Marvin

----

Tor recieves Marvin, Odom

LA recieves Bibby

ATL recieves TJ, Rasho, 1st Rounder

Something like that? Toronto wins big, IMO, but I'm a TO fan, so all my trades have Toronto winning big.

I wouldn't want Ford. I'm still holding out hope that Acie develops into a pretty good point guard, and we have Bibby in the meantime.

i agree 100% i am a cavs fan but i make it a point to see the hawks boxscore or if a game comes on league pass i try to catch it because you guys have some nice young talent. i think acie law can develop into a nice pg for the future with a little help from bibby+experience and the right coaching.
