To me he's nothing more than another Drew Gooden. A good rebounder and not much else. His offensive game is weak, he's not even close to being a shot blocking threat, and his passing leaves a lot to be desired. I'll agree with richboy in that Carl Landry is the better PF prospect.

How many Hawks games have you watched this year? I know the answer already...

durant is shooting a higher free throw %, is averaging about the same number of blocks, is averaging more assists, and is the focal point of the opposing teams defense while being the focal point of his teams offense. and he plays in a much better conference. we can do this all day long, play the numbers game, but durant has had the better individual year.

more rebounds and a higher field goal %. is that what we are talking about? i would hope a power forward would be able to average more rebounds and have a higher field goal pecentage than a 2 guard.

horford is a really nice player. i like watching him. he is going to be solid for years to come, but really, its not all that close in my opinion.

We've been down this road a million times, but only ESPN devotees would try to argue that 21/4 on 45% eFG on an AWFUL team are better individual per 36 numbers than 11/11 on 50% eFG on a team competing for the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

As far as the contention that Durant has been the focal point of teams' defenses, two rebuttals -

1. He's not been good at it.
2. Al Horford has been the defensive anchor for the Hawks ALL season long. The only other legit big on this team is Zaza Pachulia. At least the Sonics had Wally S. and Watson for most of the season.

And, by the way:

Atlanta win% vs. WC teams - 43%
Seattle win% vs. WC teams - 21%

Durant actually has the lowest plus minus of any starter in the NBA(last time I checked) despite playing on one of the worst teams. That does lead me to believe that he is sort of a stat padder(although his play March was extremely impressive).

What doesn't make sense about the fact that Durant has been a poor first (or second) option, while Horford has been solid as the defensive anchor (the defensive equivalent to Durant's role)?

Durant has been asked to carry the team's offensive load from the perimeter, Horford has been asked to carry the team's defensive load from the paint.

Horford has been much more successful at his task than Durant.

i dont watch espn. ever.

Do you write for them? :)

No doubt. Horford has no chance, and it has nothing to do with his on-court performance.

Durant's the better player in 5 years, for sure.
